Meet Author Desiree L. Scott and check out her Vendetta Series

Desiree

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I have been writing since I was sixteen years old and enjoy writing both horror, paranormal romance, and romantic suspense. I began to write when I was 15 years old. I think there have been many influences in my life that have set me on the path that I can’t help but walk.
When I was eighteen years old, I had written ten VERY well-known authors, a few being Julie Garwood and Nora Roberts, just to name a few. Now keep in mind, I wrote a very long letter, asking for advice on writing and so forth. My letter was more gushing than anything else, but still, ONE author wrote me back! By hand no less. Her name was Andrea Kane, a suspense writer who crafts the most amazing stories and plots. But because of that one small act of kindness, she not only has my respect as an author but as a wonderful person who took the time to let me know about a few organizations and to wish me luck in my goals and ambitions through life. It meant the world to an eighteen-year-old girl and still does, as I have gotten older and continued my dream. I hope that I make one small impact in the world at large and to readers, even if it’s small. I have so many reasons to be blessed in life and hope that I never take those for granted. The support has been amazing, and for that, I will never forget where I have come from, the struggles I have endured, and the blessings that I have been gifted with.
How long does it take you to write a book?
It usually takes me close to a year to write a story (novel) because I get stuck and lost so much, on top of life often getting the way. I have two children and care for my parents, so life can get pretty hectic!
What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
My schedule usually varies, but for the most part, I get to work around 6 in the morning for my day job, as I’m an administrative assistant, BUT I don’t have to log on until 7:30 for work so I usually log some words for an hour and a half until work. On the weekends, I try to get up around 5 and write until 8 when the house wakes up, and duties scream for my attention. I write better in the early mornings, so I try to utilize my time wisely in that regard.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Finding different outline methods to use and I still haven’t found one that will help me beat the blocks and how often I get stuck, but I won’t give up! One day, I WILL find something that suits and helps me.
How do your books get published?
I publish with Lavish Publishing LLC. They are a small publishing company but dedicated to their authors.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
From everywhere! Life, dreams, thinking while driving (happens so much!), my environment, family, traveling. Everything is an inspiration!
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
I wrote my first book in my early 20s, about ten years ago. LOL, It was an anthology of short stories, and it is still actually on Amazon. I really need to pull it, have it edited and revised, and then republish it but I have so many other things in the works that I just haven’t found the time yet!
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I LOVE to spend time with my children and family.
What does your family think of your writing?
My family is supportive to a degree, but do they go out of their way to make sure I find the time to actually sit down and write? Not really. My fiancรฉ really tries in that regard, and sometimes he’ll actually kick me out of bed! Doesn’t mean I sit my tush down and actually write but the motivation is there, and he tries. He’s very supportive.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I actually have the talent to create those stories and, in a way, that others highly enjoy them, that people are actually excited about the next one! It blows me away!
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I have four books completely published, and a fifth will be up for pre-order really soon. I am working on the sixth now.
 Vendetta Series – My favorite
Crescent Vendetta – Book 1
Bear’s Shadow – Book 2
Book 3 – In process
Book 4 – Soon
Vail Mountain Trilogy – On Amazon and series complete
Stranded on Vail Mountain – Book 1
Trapped on Vail Mountain – Book 2
Drawn to Vail Mountain – Book 3 – Coming up for pre-order
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Time management, dedication, motivation, and having a secure support system. Always be willing to learn the craft, practice, write, and never give up. Those are the keys to success.
NEVER GIVE UP!
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Yes. I actually get messaged from a few people who follow me. I received a message this morning asking when the third Vendetta book was going to be done because they wanted to know what happened to the characters and the story of the next couple! That makes me feel so wonderful!!
Do you like to create books for adults?
Yes, I do. I don’t think I could ever create a child’s book. Someone would always die!! Hahaha
What do you think makes a good story?
The plot and characters. Without those, the story will fail. They go hand in hand. If you have a great plot but lousy characters, the readers won’t care about the story. If you have great characters but a lousy plot, then the readers will lose interest regardless.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I think I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I can’t remember ever wanting to be anything else!
 Any books in the works?
The third Vendetta story at the moment. Then book 4 of that series to wrap those lives up. Then I have a few thrillers to finish. I have over 50 current WIPs so believe me; I don’t have a shortage of plots and stories to work on!
What are your plans for the future?
To finish my current series and to continue to write and create! Hopefully one day, I can take my writing full time. That is my dream.

Awesome PNR Fiction Must Read!
By Deb_Loves2read
What an awesome first PNR read & the first book I’ve ever read by this talented author, but it definitely won’t be the last! Great storyline and new take on wolf shifters with animated characters, that kept me glued to the book & pages turning ๐Ÿ™‚ I never write spoilers or recap blurbs, but I do know when a book is a great must read! … Originally I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review but loved it so much; I just one-clicked my own copy to keep ๐Ÿ˜€ So yes I highly recommend this must read to all fiction lovers, especially in paranormal, shifters and fantasy! Can’t wait for upcoming works from Ms. Scott ๐Ÿ˜€

I LOVED Bear’s Shadow! So SOOOO GOOD!
By Marie Brown
What a fantastic, emotional, thrilling paranormal romantic suspense that was as exciting as it was sexy! Desiree L. Scott is new to me author, but WOW..she has me so HOOKED on her stories! Bear’s Shadow is intense and sexy, sweet, and action packed with outstanding characters and an incredible storyline. I am so in love and wildly impressed with this series and can’t freaking wait to see what will be next!
Bear’s Shadow starts out with some heart-racing scenes. OMG, I was drawn to the story from the very first sentence, and the more I read, the more I found myself entranced. This is such a different breed of paranormal romance. It’s full of cliff-hanging suspense and danger and some of the most incredibly sexy and ultra protective shifters that had me swooning. This Vendetta Series is to die for, and I LOVE it!
Bear’s Shadow gets an EXHILARATING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! If you like your stories full of passion and action and irresistible heroes, you will love Bear’s Shadow!
