Review of Chance by Carolyn Bowen

Chance is a gripping psychological thriller that takes the lid off the underbelly of Atlanta, Georgia, the various cultures at play, the sleaze, the Chinese mafia. Adding to the intrigue, the involvement of the CIA. Meet tough, no-nonsense lawyer Sydney Jones, her beefy bodyguard-lover Walker and washed-up rock star Roxanne who attempts to lure Walker back to her side and ends up accidentally dead for her trouble. I particularly enjoyed the complexity of Sydney’s unexpected and unwanted pregnancy.

The narrative has a strong forward drive that makes for very fast reading. Written in third person personal, the story flits seamlessly from character to character in a fluid jump cut style, an approach that takes a moment to get used to but works well. Bowen’s pastiche of character-led vignette’s adds to the tension, lending a sense of urgency. Sacrificed is the deep point of view of the contemporary thriller – this technique applies especially to psychological thrillers – and Chance is light on dialogue and long action scenes, again, key drivers of the thriller genre. Nevertheless, Bowen has deployed a narrative style that captures the reader and keeps them turning the pages until the very end. Well written with good plotting and pacing and enough intrigue and twists to keep you on your toes, Chance will keep you guessing, waiting for the pay off at the end. Recommended to those after a lighter read in the thriller genre. Chance will also appeal to those after strong female leads.

Imagine being pulled out of your world. Imagine being taken away from your family, friends, job and everything you love. Cassidy Long knew how it felt and was trying to make the best of it. Never mind that she had been rescued from a real live monster by the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. That man literally swept her off her feet and brought her to his world to protect her. I could not put this book down! The story was so well written that I found my self laughing, sobbing, cursing and holding my breath (and that was in just one chapter). Three cheers for T.W. Knight. I enjoyed Primed for revenge immensely and anticipate the next installment. 5 stars for this exciting novel!!!!

Fantastic! Loved it!

This is a great book from a new to me author. Usually, I don’t really try many new things without a recommendation but came across this, it sounded interesting and like something I’d enjoy so I decided to give it a chance. Very very glad I did!

Firstly hot inked men, yes, please. Secondly, family connections-one of my favorite things. I absolutely love series about families whether by blood or brotherhood. Thirdly, more sexy men in uniform and a slightly geeky writer. It’s like the author set out to hook me probably not, but it worked anyway!

I really liked Heath & Ned’s connection and how they worked together. There wasn’t as much naughty time as some but it fit the story and the chemistry and passion were there regardless. They worked out their conflict towards the end maybe not ideally but realistically.

Overall a well done, engaging book. Loving and sexy. some serious moments but plenty of lighter moments and of course gotta have sarcasm and teasing when you’ve got families involved. Loved meeting all the characters and I will be looking forward to more. Wonder who is next!

WOW, shocker there. While Tori takes off to deal with yet another gang and The Organization and Michael are off to protect The Band yet again. Unfortunately, thanks to the FBI and whatever it is they are up to Tori is not out of this yet. She is yet again torn away from a somewhat normal life finally and thrown right back into the Gang life she has tried to get away from. Tori may have killed all the members of The Dragons but now she is thrown into another gang. We follow her through so much turmoil. Brett the leader of the motorcycle gang has now told Tori a lot about her sorted past. What’s in store for Tori now? Life just doesn’t want to be good to her that’s for sure.
But just like all the previous books. Tori is one very tough woman and in Exposed she is no less than a strong woman. Kudo’s again Samantha Jacobey. This book kept me reading and I want more !!!

Bella Vita Salon is the ‘go to’ place for news of import. It’s also the launch point from which author Susan Lynn Solomon unwraps her own unique brand of storytelling. Using first person, the author confers on character Emlyn Goode the dual tasks of protagonist and narrator, sharing her insights and uncertainties with an unflinching self-deprecation that made me feel like she was sitting across from me at a shared table. A novelette, BELLA VITA gives more of what we first discovered in Solomon’s THE MAGIC OF MURDER, a 5 star full length work that focused on a modern day witch coming to terms with her inherited powers. I sense that the author in her enthusiasm just had to share her down-to-earth character one more time before the follow-up to MAGIC releases. Thank you for that. BELLA VITA is a nice bridge between the novels. 5 stars
