High school romance with a side of horror/mystery!

I really enjoyed this book!

Jane is a socially anxious high schooler who moves to her father’s home in Oregon to get away from a tragic family event. In Oregon, she is reunited with some childhood friends and meets the mysterious and attractive Aiden whom she falls in an uncertain love with. There is plenty of romantic tension between them and it seems a couple other boys may be jealous, adding to the tension.

The writing style is fun and easy to read, letting the reader discover and unravel past and current events and get to know the motivations of the main characters. There is plenty of romantic interest, action, and intrigue to engage the reader and leave them wanting more. The book will appeal to anyone wanting to read young adult romance and action-horror/fantasy.

I look forward to the next book of the trilogy!

These two characters, and many others, are brilliantly drawn, and the story gripping, but there is much more to this book than appears at first. A girl whose father vanished from her life a year previously asks Serena to display a photograph of him. Serena does so, but tells Ava she will cast a spell to bring the girl luck with her quest. Is Serena really a white witch, or slightly insane with grief? If she does have magic powers, can she use them to find her own lost love? Can she help Ava to to find true happiness and if she does try, will it be as a normal friend or… read “Soup” and see, but do read it.

The story, while of a grisly nature is well written. Ms. Drewa has painted a picture that may leave the readers shaking in their slippers and wanting to sleep with a light on. It is suspenseful and fast-paced. You may have a hard time putting this one down once you pick it up! I give Midnight Owl five hoots and recommend it to mystery lovers everywhere

I really enjoyed reading this and the other two books in the Joe Leverette Mysteries series. The characters were what I wanted when I read the first book. It left me excited to read the next book in the series.

February 18, 2018Format: Kindle EditionThis was so different than Mr. Nosach’s other books but enjoyable. The Godfrey family is in turmoil and the author captures this. One son suffers from hallucinations or does he? Is the devil real? A mother has a wicked secret. All these things come together in a taut suspenseful tale. Mr. Nosach has dabbled in the paranormal before but this is for real. BROKEN TRUST is well written and it deserves 5 stars.
