When Carole Sage joins the team, the police are eager to use her gift of ‘second sight’ to gain an advantage. Will the young sensitive help crack the case, or will she become the murderer’s next victim?

Highly Suspenseful, Well-Written Murder Mystery

This highly suspenseful, well-written murder mystery opens with a grizzly, horrific murder that gives nightmares to several people not related to the murder in any way. Likable, believable characters draw the reader into the nightmare, while the baffled but competent police work feverishly to stop the killer before he kills again. I highly recommend this book. Ms. Drewa, write faster!

FREE on Amazon US and UK – “There is plenty of romantic interest, action, and intrigue to engage the reader and leave them wanting more. ” – Summers’ Deceit (Hunters Trilogy Book 1) by Sara J. Bernhardt

Jane Callahan is a reclusive, seventeen-year-old high school student dealing with the death of her beloved brother. Her home in Southern California with her mother is a constant reminder of her loss and pain. In hopes of escaping her past, she moves to North Bend Oregon to live with her father, where she meets a beautiful boy named Aidan Summers.

Jane is intrigued by his looks as well as his unusual ways of attempting to get her attention. After months of uncommon conversation and frustration, an uncertain romance brews between Jane and Aidan, but Aidan has a ghastly secret that could destroy everything.

fk

High school romance with a side of horror/mystery!

I really enjoyed this book!

Jane is a socially anxious high schooler who moves to her father’s home in Oregon to get away from a tragic family event. In Oregon, she is reunited with some childhood friends and meets the mysterious and attractive Aiden whom she falls in an uncertain love with. There is plenty of romantic tension between them and it seems a couple other boys may be jealous, adding to the tension.

The writing style is fun and easy to read, letting the reader discover and unravel past and current events and get to know the motivations of the main characters. There is plenty of romantic interest, action, and intrigue to engage the reader and leave them wanting more. The book will appeal to anyone wanting to read young adult romance and action-horror/fantasy.

I look forward to the next book of the trilogy!

“Murder and humor are her trademarks, and the humor is woven into the story at the appropriate time and adds the perfect comedy relief.” – Over Her Dead Body by Karen Vaughan

Take one beautiful vindictive woman….she’s 1 part bimbo and 2 parts lethal gangsta- gun moll.
Watch her try and hold onto her 84-year-old husband by having his octogenarian paramour knocked off. Sometimes greed and jealousy lead to the last resort ……MURDER!
Laura, Gerry, and Gibbons try to stop her from also killing her husband, without getting themselves knocked off in the process!…

Another fantastic book by Karen Vaughan!!!!

I love the way Vaughan has her characters interact with each other. They are well-developed and believable. Her scenes are described in such a way you can easily picture them.
Moreover, let’s not forget the humor she added! Murder and humor are her trademarks, and the humor is woven into the story at the appropriate time and adds the perfect comedy relief.
I highly recommend “Over Her Dead Body” to anyone who loves a good murder mystery and some good laughs!

“A GREAT TWIST TO A MYSTERY THAT HAS A TOUCH OF HUMOR THROWN IN” – Dead to Writes (A Gibbons and Fitz Investigation, #7) by Karen Vaughan

Natalie Fisher committed suicide after an author stole her work and published it as her own. Two years later, her best friend Terri is found dead in her hotel room. Are the two deaths connected? Laura Fitz and Detective Gibbons are on the case to trap a ruthless author trying to get away with murder!

A GREAT TWIST TO A MYSTERY THAT HAS A TOUCH OF HUMOR THROWN IN

There are few authors that have the knack to write a murder mystery that leaves one guessing until the final page but can add in sarcastic and witty humor like Ms. Vaughan does.

‘Dead to Writes: A Laura & Gerry Mystery’ book 7 is no exception. Ms. Vaughan carries the plot along without giving away the murderer, and yet her Laura (our corpse magnet) carries off the solving of the case with her own brand of sarcastic wit. I love these books and am always happy to find another.

“Murder, a police procedural, and romance. What more could a lover of the mystery genre ask for in a novella?” – Playing Dead: A Jeff Gibbons Experience by Karen Vaughan

On a cold November night, a man is dead, and his sister is looking for answers. Det. Jeff Gibbons is on the scene to get the answers. This was no simple mugging, and the search leads to organized crime. Get ready for a wild ride and romance on the side for Rhonnie and Brian.

Murder, a police procedural, and romance!

Murder, a police procedural, and romance. What more could a lover of the mystery genre ask for in a novella?

In “Playing Dead” Rhonnie Patterson’s twin brother Bo has a flash drive with incriminating evidence. What’s on that flash drive and who has killed to get it? When Bo is beaten to death in an alley, this is the knot Police Inspector Gibbons needs to unravel. But the investigation gets complicated when it becomes apparent that the killer now believes Rhonnie has the flash drive and is coming after her. How to keep her safe? Enter Brian, a grief counselor and an old friend of Rhonnie’s. In the midst of mayhem love blossoms. The story moves from Toronto to a cabin in the north of Canada, and the tension builds.

While Gibbons, Rhonnie, and Brian search for answers, “Playing Dead” twists and turns in ways I didn’t see coming. This novella is definitely a fun read and worth every one of the 5-stars I’ve given it.

“If you haven’t read a book by this author, grab this, and if you have, you will already know you have to have another mystery, suspense from this author.” – Jamaica Dead (Laura & Gerry Mystery #5) by Karen Vaughan

After Graduating from the Crime scene investigator course, Laura and Gerry escape for some quality time in Jamaica. As usual, things are not going according to Hoyle for Cookie the corpse magnet as another murder takes place. The victim was obnoxious and not widely admired by his fellow vacationers but what did Donovan Mitchell do to deserve death?

Even paradise has a lot of problems, but the author makes it intriguing.

If you haven’t read a book by this author, grab this, and if you have, you will already know you have to have another mystery, suspense from this author. Laura and Gerry are back and headed to Jamaica. Of course, with Laura, you have to have murder, mystery, and a bit of fun. Donavon and Becky Mitchell are also headed to the same resort and although not Laura and Gerry’s first choice for friends they do get to know each other and then Donavon ends up dead, and readers are in for a great ride involving voodoo, murder, drugs, and a well-told tale.

"The “corpse magnet” is back!” – Dead Men Don’t Swing (Laura & Gerry Mystery #4) by Karen Vaughan

Laura and Gerry are at it again. Death finds them close to home when a tenant is found in the dumpster behind their apartment building. Laura is thrust into the “who killed Denny?” mystery while she does battle with a tenant and dodges a school janitor. The life of a college student is never boring, but she wishes it would be!
Dead Men Don’t Swing is a biting, funny, deliciously bawdy, and fast-paced murder mystery in which “death by sexual misadventure and a wayward poisonous snake” (among other things) make for pure entertainment gold.”

The “corpse magnet” is back!

Dead Men Don’t Swing is Karen Vaughan’s bawdy, comedic take on amateur sleuthing. It’s book four in her Laura & Gerry Mystery series. Lots of detective lingo is delivered with wit and sarcasm by the protagonist, Laura. That’s not surprising if you’ve read Vaughan’s previous books in the series, and given the fact that the author has done a bit of stand-up comedy.

In this book, Laura and her husband Gerry are back dealing with another murder investigation since, as Laura explains, she’s a ‘corpse magnet.’ This time a dead body turns up in a dumpster at the apartment complex where Laura and Gerry are managers, having fallen to his death from the balcony above. Not likely an accident—the guy is wearing boxer shorts and sporting a tricked-out stiletto in his forehead. Oh yeah, he’s missing some sensitive body parts—yikes! Things are not as they seem in this suburban Canadian apartment complex. It turns out there’s a whole lot of hanky-panky going on in this mid-rise Peyton Place, some of it pretty kinky stuff, too. There’s no shortage of pervs and perps on any floor, in addition to the ever-annoying, tenant-from-hell, Stella. As I type the name, I hear Marlon Brando screaming it at the top of his lungs in A Streetcar Named Desire. And, speaking of movies, the photographer played by Jimmy Stewart in Hitchcock’s Rear Window, would have been hard-pressed to know where to shoot first with all the action going on in this complex!

A MURDER MYSTERY TO DIE FOR!!!!

Karen Vaughan has once again given us a dynamite murder mystery in book two of her Laura & Gerry Murder Mystery series.
Take one trashy, gold-digger, psychotic woman, with a mob boss for a daddy, and a jealous streak that would make any normally insane woman look like a saint. Throw in flying melons, baseball bats, and a sweet, gentle, rich elderly man, and Laura (corpse magnet) soon to be Fitz, and you have a masterpiece of crime, insanity, murder, and yes romance.
It takes a lot to write a great murder mystery, but even more one with humor wrapped into the package.
Kudos to Ms. Vaughan for once again giving us a class act book to blow away the cobwebs from our minds and entertain us while doing so.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this read.

“I give this book Five Golden Glasses of Wine: DRINK UP AT YOUR OWN RISK!” – Dead to Writes (A Gibbons and Fitz Investigation, #7) by Karen Vaughan

Karen Vaughan has written up another winner!

Laura Fritz is back along with the characters I have come to love from this author’s other books in the series. This time, Laura meets a couple of authors. Natalie, Silvie, and Terri were close friends and struggled to be authors. When two of the women die mysteriously, Laura gets involved and the adventure to solve a mystery begins. Karen Vaughan writes no-frills stories with amazing and believable characters. Grabbing a book by this author is like sitting down with an old friend and having a chat. Here novels are twisted mysteries with a cozy appeal and not to be missed.
