Murder, a police procedural, and romance!
Murder, a police procedural, and romance. What more could a lover of the mystery genre ask for in a novella?
In “Playing Dead” Rhonnie Patterson’s twin brother Bo has a flash drive with incriminating evidence. What’s on that flash drive and who have killed to get it? When Bo is beaten to death in an alley, this is the knot Police Inspector Gibbons needs to unravel. But the investigation gets complicated when it becomes apparent that the killer now believes Rhonnie has the flash drive and is coming after her. How to keep her safe? Enter Brian, a grief counselor and an old friend of Rhonnie’s. In the midst of mayhem love blossoms. The story moves from Toronto to a cabin in the north of Canada, and the tension builds.
While Gibbons, Rhonnie and Brian search for answers, “Playing Dead” twists and turns in ways I didn’t see coming. This novella is definitely a fun read and worth every one of the 5-stars I’ve given it.
