“This is a series that was written in a different time era. I enjoyed the characters and the journey the books take you. ” – The Wilderness Series by Pamela Ackerson

Discover how exciting it is to travel back in time.

The Wilderness Series has it all. Romance, war, intrigue, betrayal, and the unquenchable hope for a better tomorrow. From book one, where Dr. Karen Anderson discovers the magical bed that transports her family to the past, to the Lakota Indians, to her son Matthew’s search for his fate, and book five with Karen’s youngest daughter Jennifer, who doesn’t know what she wants but still manages to find her happily-ever-after.

Love can be found anytime

This is a series that was written in a different time era. I enjoyed the characters and the journey the books take you. The story and the depth of emotion are shown. Love is a wonderful thing and the struggles you have to go through to find that true love is spectacular. These books show you such journeys. Take you back in time to a hard way of life and to the basic survival. I enjoy them and the writing some more than others but books I would recommend.

“Rainbow Learns to Fly, the second book in the Rainbow series, builds on the lessons of patience, self-acceptance, and helpfulness presented in Rainbow’s Promise.” – Rainbow Learns to Fly by Mary Clark Dalton, Illustrated by Michael J. Fuller

Rainbow has finally received his beautiful rainbow wings. Now he can’t wait to fly! How hard can it be? he thinks to himself. He’s thrilled when his dad tells him it’s time to learn to fly. Impatience rears its ugly head again as Rainbow is in a hurry to fly. “These things take time, Son. You’ll fly soon,” his father tells him. Follow Rainbow as he learns once again, some things are worth the wait!

Margaret Welwood, Scissortown

Perhaps upon graduation, or maybe on your wedding day,

or with the birth of a child, you thought you’d arrived—and then found that another journey had just begun. So it is with Rainbow—after all, what does a butterfly need besides wings? And what wings these are, bigger than his dad’s, and glowing with the vibrant colors of Queen Alexandra’s side of the family!
And yet, Rainbow’s dad counsels patience and daily practice, requisites for true competence. Despite his initial impatience and the overconfidence that stems from lack of experience, Rainbow displays a teachable spirit. It is this patience and teachableness that Dalton wishes to instill in her grandson, and in all the children who read her stories.
Rainbow Learns to Fly, the second book in the Rainbow series, builds on the lessons of patience, self-acceptance, and helpfulness presented in Rainbow’s Promise. Rainbow is “human” enough to make mistakes, but wise enough to learn from them—and we hope the children who read his stories will also learn from Rainbow’s experiences.

Imaginative and original zombie apocalypse novel

Viral Dawn is a zombie apocalypse story that is much more than a comic book or short story expanded into a TV series that gradually becomes repetitive and redundant. First, there is the character development so readers get to know the characters before the real action starts. I love the way the author narrates what the main character is thinking so you really get to know her as the story progresses.

Viral Dawn is a story about how an average person can rise to the occasion and become a hero. In this case, the main character Casey only wants to take care of her mildly disabled foster brother Derek. But Casey is separated from Derek and reluctantly becomes the leader of a group of friends and strangers trying to survive the zombie outbreak.

Unlike other zombie apocalypse stories, Viral Dawn explains what caused the dead to begin walking and feeding on living humans. I don’t want to compare it to The Walking Dead but I do want to say that if Skyler Rankin was a writer on The Walking Dead TV series, I would still be watching it. The same old problem with shows like The Walking Dead or Lost always seems to appear after a season or two. Writers start to burn out and become unimaginative and repetitive. They always seem to fall back on writing in different groups of survivalists fighting each other and lose the imaginative science fiction aspects of the story. Not so with Viral Dawn.

Author Skyler Rankin has written an interesting, exciting story that takes readers in a different direction than you might expect. There is no predictability here. There are surprises around every corner. Viral Dawn is a true science fiction novel. Best of all, it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. Although it is part of a series, it is a self-contained novel with an ending that has closure. I was not left hanging but I liked the book enough that I plan to read the sequel as soon as possible. A solid 5 stars for Viral Dawn by Skyler Rankin.

“This was the first time I read one of Mr. Carson Reno, a private detective’s, adventures and I couldn’t put it down. ” – Murder my Darling (Carson Reno Mystery Series Book 17) by Gerald W. Darnell

All Carson Reno Mystery Series Books are standalone novels. It is not necessary to read them in any particular order. A famous author is murdered, Carson is at the scene of the crime and considered a prime suspect – but he doesn’t remember anything!
Missing manuscripts, a missing diary, and strange stories from the past bring an unusual group of characters together in this tangled web of deceit, blackmail, and murder. The mystery travels from Memphis to New Orleans, while Carson works to prove his innocence – without success.
Come along for the ride and follow the clues to a strange and unforgettable ending in the adventure called:

Murder My Darling

HEATHER C.

Exciting! Total Page-Turner!

This was the first time I read one of Mr. Carson Reno, a private detective’s, adventures and I couldn’t put it down. I am more of a romance/fantasy reader myself, but the story is so well-developed that it caught my attention right from the beginning (the prologue) when the murder of a crime/mystery author takes place as soon as she types the last words to her newest manuscript and in the cabin of her boat. I must say that I didn’t find it clichè, but pretty poetic. Soon after, Mr. Reno takes the scene and, without having any recollection of his last hours or events and plus being unfortunate enough to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he receives the honor of becoming the prime suspect in Darling’s murder (the boat’s Capitan murder being added to his charges just as well).“It’s not whiskey it’s Scotch, and you know how I hate that stuff. I wasn’t drinking… somebody hit me over the head and…and I guess used my gun to shoot…shoot whoever. I suppose somewhere in the process they poured a bottle of Scotch over me and put my handcuffs on the dead woman. I have no idea – I don’t know any more than what I’ve already told you. As you can see, that doesn’t sound promising to help the detective. Still, the author plays a smart move as he invites us to travel a few hours into the past in order to get to know what has happened between our (main) characters and while also giving ourselves the chance to try to put some clues together and eventually solve the murder. Ms. Darling, protection isn’t what I really do…”,Mr. Reno told Ms. Marlow Darling. Setting the mystery mood from the beginning, we soon find ourselves traveling from Memphis (Tennessee) to one of US’ most iconic and touristic places – welcome to New Orleans! – and where things aren’t always what they seem, while we join our detective in his search for Ms. Darling’s missing manuscript, his innocence, and, consequently, the truth. I just need you to keep me out of jail so I can do what I need to do. This whole thing is nuts, and somebody has done a good job of framing me for two murders. I intend to find out who that ‘somebody’ is.” And so he does. “Murder my Darling” is an amazing novel and an exciting page-turner, which I truly recommend to anyone who might wish to dive into a great and original detective’s plot. And, in being not only a voracious reader but also a Brazilian myself, I feel like I need to end this review by sharing that I actually felt as if I were traveling to the places where the scenes take action, a courtesy of Mr. Gerald great writing skills.

“I have always loved Lawrencovna’s writing, and this one is the best so far!” – Lost Boys: A Second Star Story: An M/M Fantasy Reimagining of Captain Hook by Andi Lawrencovna

There is a story of a boy who never grew up. A boy who crossed worlds by learning to fly and fought pirates with a fairy at his side.
This is not that story.
This is the story of a man who took to the seas to escape his past and avoid his future, and the elf who dared to cross hooks with the pirate lord of the deep.

Redlord

A soldier serves out of duty and honor, loyalty to his kingdom – love of his lord. Love was what killed him, and the prayer that his prince might survive when he did not. Captured, condemned, and enslaved, Marius D’Corre died in his chains.

The man who survived… The pirate who emerged…left behind the name he once owned and boarded his ship to never look back.

Tolthe

Clerics are not meant to leave their Woods, living and loving within the trees they call home, one with the forest that claims all elves as kin. All except Tolthe, who stands in the shadows, never welcome amongst his brethren.

When the alfara is stolen, and Diety demanded one take up the hunt for the scythe, it felt only right that he leave the Dienobo behind for whatever adventure waited across the world.

Lost Boys

There’s only so long you can run from the past before it catches up. And only so far you can travel before the home you’ve always longed for finds you.

When pirate meets priest, two worlds collide: the past Red can’t seem to leave behind, and the future Toma doesn’t know how to spare the thief from. For the first in a long time, neither soldier nor elf is alone, but being found only means there is more at stake to lose…

This book is a dark fantasy reimagining of the origins of Captain Hook and is intended for mature readers. There is triggering content that some readers may find distressing and language that might shock a sailor. For content warnings please click on the book cover and scroll to the copyright page.

Not what I expected but WOW!

I have always loved Lawrencovna’s writing, and this one is the best so far!
She adds a new twist to the whole nursery rhyme rewrite. I don’t want to say too much because it’ll spoil it for you.
I would give this book 100 stars!
