Magnetic Story.

What a magnetic story in Reckoning – One Degree of Separation by Gerald Darnell. I am a definite fan of this author!
Whatever this author writes, I read. This is another great Carson Reno story, and I swear, they keep getting better and better, more intriguing. And in each book, there is always something new to learn about Reno. Murder, corruption, various clues, and Carson. He always ends up in the middle of something and reading and seeing how the pieces are put together, is magnificent. This book deserves a second read! It is a very well-written plot, and I enjoyed it. It’s one of those embraceable stories. It’s definitely un-put-downable! It is always an honor to read this author’s books. A definite attention-grabber, so much I couldn’t put it down. Both thrilling and intriguing, all the way to the end. Masterfully written! This author not only tells the story but shows it with words as well. It’s raw and thrilling, and sometimes, very chilling. Reckoning – One Degree of Separation is a definite recommendation by Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews. I hope to read more books by this author.

Another Thrilling Carson Reno Mystery

Darnell pens a magnificent mystery thriller in Sin and Stilettos. This is book 21, yes I said 21, of Darnell’s Carson Reno series. First, I’m a big fan of Darnell’s writing and storytelling abilities. His imagination is something very impressive. I am also a big fan of Carson Reno. There is something about these suspenseful and intense mysteries that have interconnected stories, and they are filled with twists and turns. Just when you think you figured it out, another twist. So enjoyable. Darnell’s story is almost majestical as his words come to life, and Reno just jumps off the pages. Sin and Stilettos has an interesting set of characters, and it works for even at a time gone by. It’s a book that you can’t put down until the end, where everything comes together, and still takes your breath away. You can read the Reno stories as standalone, but I recommend reading each one, and enjoying every mystery and every action of Carson Reno! I look forward to reading many more stories by this author. This book is a definite recommendation by Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews.

“An old fashion mystery with lots of twists! You will root for Carson & he does not disappoint.” – The Disappearance of Robin Murat (Carson Reno Mystery Series Book 19) by Gerald W. Darnell

Line Blurb

All Carson Reno books are standalone novels. It is not necessary to read them in any order.
Carson has been hired to locate a client’s missing brother, and it quickly gets complicated.
Somehow the missing brother is linked to a gangster who has stolen thousands from the mafia, but that link isn’t clear. Carson’s search doesn’t turn up the brother, but it does turn up a body – the body of a gangster who was on a mission of murder.
It seems that the Memphis Mafia and the Memphis Police are also searching for his client’s brother. Finding him first becomes a real priority.
The pursuit takes him to New Orleans, where a whole new mystery unfolds, which puts Carson in some very serious danger.
Then, if possible, things get worse.
More bodies appear while the Mafia chase their money, and it seems people are not who they claim to be.
This old-fashioned crime story takes Carson Reno and his crew on a complicated adventure, where it seems the solution may be worse than the problem.

Gerald has written another epic mystery in the Carson Reno Mystery series, The Disappearance of Robin Murat. Carson travels to New Orleans and discovers that his hypothesis about this missing person has to be changed. The clues to the investigation are not as “clear” as he has to dig deeper into the muddy waters in New Orleans. Will Carson and his team be able to figure it out before it’s too late?

An exciting Carson Story!

Yes, I love reading Darnell’s work. I also love, and I mean love, Carson Reno, and was very excited to read this one. First, what I like about any of Darnell’s Carson Reno’s books is the way that writes it so anyone can pick up any volume of his multitude of books and read it. But, once you read it, you end up wanting more. Lack of Candor was no different. Reno is on a new and interesting case, and nothing is as it seems. I like how Carson tells his story and what happens, especially his thoughts about himself and the others around him. It makes for great storytelling. The story was thrilling, and though plot-driven, the characters, were what makes for the remarkable and exciting story. I like that he introduces a cast of characters, so much that I’ve taken that idea from him with my own work. An edge-of-your-seat, savor-every-word, page-turner!

“This was the first time I read one of Mr. Carson Reno, a private detective’s, adventures and I couldn’t put it down. ” – Murder my Darling (Carson Reno Mystery Series Book 17) by Gerald W. Darnell

All Carson Reno Mystery Series Books are standalone novels. It is not necessary to read them in any particular order. A famous author is murdered, Carson is at the scene of the crime and considered a prime suspect – but he doesn’t remember anything!
Missing manuscripts, a missing diary, and strange stories from the past bring an unusual group of characters together in this tangled web of deceit, blackmail, and murder. The mystery travels from Memphis to New Orleans, while Carson works to prove his innocence – without success.
Come along for the ride and follow the clues to a strange and unforgettable ending in the adventure called:

Murder My Darling

HEATHER C.

Exciting! Total Page-Turner!

This was the first time I read one of Mr. Carson Reno, a private detective’s, adventures and I couldn’t put it down. I am more of a romance/fantasy reader myself, but the story is so well-developed that it caught my attention right from the beginning (the prologue) when the murder of a crime/mystery author takes place as soon as she types the last words to her newest manuscript and in the cabin of her boat. I must say that I didn’t find it clichè, but pretty poetic. Soon after, Mr. Reno takes the scene and, without having any recollection of his last hours or events and plus being unfortunate enough to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he receives the honor of becoming the prime suspect in Darling’s murder (the boat’s Capitan murder being added to his charges just as well).“It’s not whiskey it’s Scotch, and you know how I hate that stuff. I wasn’t drinking… somebody hit me over the head and…and I guess used my gun to shoot…shoot whoever. I suppose somewhere in the process they poured a bottle of Scotch over me and put my handcuffs on the dead woman. I have no idea – I don’t know any more than what I’ve already told you. As you can see, that doesn’t sound promising to help the detective. Still, the author plays a smart move as he invites us to travel a few hours into the past in order to get to know what has happened between our (main) characters and while also giving ourselves the chance to try to put some clues together and eventually solve the murder. Ms. Darling, protection isn’t what I really do…”,Mr. Reno told Ms. Marlow Darling. Setting the mystery mood from the beginning, we soon find ourselves traveling from Memphis (Tennessee) to one of US’ most iconic and touristic places – welcome to New Orleans! – and where things aren’t always what they seem, while we join our detective in his search for Ms. Darling’s missing manuscript, his innocence, and, consequently, the truth. I just need you to keep me out of jail so I can do what I need to do. This whole thing is nuts, and somebody has done a good job of framing me for two murders. I intend to find out who that ‘somebody’ is.” And so he does. “Murder my Darling” is an amazing novel and an exciting page-turner, which I truly recommend to anyone who might wish to dive into a great and original detective’s plot. And, in being not only a voracious reader but also a Brazilian myself, I feel like I need to end this review by sharing that I actually felt as if I were traveling to the places where the scenes take action, a courtesy of Mr. Gerald great writing skills.
