I adored this book and can hardly wait for a new installment of the Sherlock and Holmes partnership, or do I say the collaboration between Sherlock, Eversley, and Holmes?
It’s impossible not to love Ms. Vaughan’s books. They are a definite go-to when one wants a good read, with a tad of romance, a lot of suspense, murder, and great plots.

‘Love is a wonderful thing, and you never know when love can happen, you just need to believe it will’
It’s very rare for me to find a book like this one and as you keep reading, there is a constant giggle that it just can’t stop. Stories like this are a reminder that no matter the age or the rough pass of time, love will still come to you, from one way or another, a mother, a relative or a close person to you will always care and get worried about you and as twisted as your life might be, there is a solution for that too.
I, honestly don’t have the words to express how much I love this book, especially because two months ago one of my beloved pet passed away and while reading this, I was remembering every moment of happiness I have with him, just because we have a language, can talk and complain it doesn’t mean dogs or animals in general don’t do that too, and considering the joy a pet brings to your life, it’s normal to suggest that this story happen to all of us in a daily basis.
No criticism, no suggestions, just buy and read this book, times are always difficult, no matter the perspective, but stories like this one can make everyone’s day a little bit better.

Can the Andrew Dice Clay of British detectives get in touch with his inner nice guy when banished to Toronto? One can only hope the renowned politeness of his new Canadian colleagues rubs off on him and quick once this defective detective opens his mouth to speak. The stream of inappropriate epithets is jarring, to say the least. It's no wonder he was exiled to [North] America by his Manchester superiors. Nigel Holme's is loathsome and, oh yes, he also let a serial killer escape after the man killed the woman he loved. Derilection of duty left him damaged personally and professionally. Needless to say, his new compatriots are not that thrilled to meet Nigel. He and his new partner, Kristen Sherlock [yes, Sherlock & Holmes] don't hit it off, but she deploys her niceness to correct and control the out of control Brit. Kristen's got trouble of her own, though. Not all Canadian police officers are nice and there's an especially nasty one who has it in for Kristen. Why? The author does a great job with the telling of the tale and making readers happy with a great story. I'm afraid of bodies of water. Especially LARGE bodies of water. So would I normally pick up a romance novel about a woman (Olivia) sailing her boat all the way from Hawaii to Alaska? And as she sails, picking up a stranded guy (Don) in the middle of the Gulf of Alaska on her way? That would be an emphatic no. That said, I have long dreamed of one day visiting Alaska and its pristine beauty. So when I read the excerpt on this story I was intrigued and had to check it out.

Believe me when I say I was not let down at all. This was a really good Alaskan romance, with the heroine as the hero for once, and the author, Cherime MacFarlane has done an exemplary job with her beautiful descriptions. Admittedly, it took a little bit for me to get into it initially as it started a little slow for me personally. This was mostly due to the fact that there is a fair amount of nautical terms and jargon used within of which I was unfamiliar with because, well, I'm afraid of water and will NEVER be caught dead, or alive, on a boat. So for me, a lot of that went way over my head.

But the story is well written and the characters were clearly defined. I had a little trouble after a bit keeping some character names straight. It felt like quite a few more were popping up as I read along. This novel is the third or fourth in the series, I believe, so its possible some of the names were from previous stories. But rest assured, this CAN be read as a stand-alone without difficulty .

I would highly recommend this story for anyone looking for a good romance with an ending that'll make you laugh out loud. (At least, it did for me.)

I love the way Vaughan has her characters interact with each other. They are well developed and believable. Her scenes are described in such a way you can easily picture them.
Moreover, let’s not forget the humor she added! Murder and humor are her trademark, and the humor is woven into the story at the appropriate time and adds the perfect comedy relief.
I highly recommend “Over Her Dead Body” to anyone who loves a good murder mystery and some good laughs!
