ANOTHER STELLAR ROMANCE BY CHERIME MACFARLANE--THE WOMAN INSIDE

A second chance Alaska romance.
Trudy worked full time and a major side hustle to get enough money for her own slice of the American dream, land. Not just a box she slapped money down on, but acreage. Only problem, it’s in interior Alaska, where the temperature can fall below minus 25. Her next-door neighbor doesn’t think this cheechako will make it without a man. Trudy has no choice, there is no backup plan.
Deak has problems of his own. His wife died in an accident and he can’t move forward. Still, something about his new neighbor is appealing. Maybe it’s the dark hair she can’t seem to keep tamed that has his fingers itching.

This the first time reading this author and I look forward to reading more books by her. The characters, Tru and Deak, are well developed and engaging. Tru has pulled up stakes in California and moved to Alaska to homestead in a small cabin needing loads of work before winter. Deak is suffering from the accidental death of his wife. Together they are better than apart. His knowledge of the region and the locals allows Tru to get the help she needs without becoming too dependent on Deak. This story was engaging and hard to put down

Ice And Secrets: Steamy romantic suspense in Alaska. BY CHERIME MACFARLANE

A melting glacier, a wild river, gold, and a killer on the prowl… again.

Lying on the tundra, the churning blades of the helicopter above her, Lane can’t believe her best friend wants her dead. She planned to share the gold. They think they have the proper coordinates… they don’t. She’s injured but not bleeding. Blood would bring bears. When she tries to rise and walk out, the wolves gallop toward her. No one is getting the gold.
Micha saw them push the woman from the hovering chopper. Out hunting with his wolf-hybrids, this is an unexpected complication in his life. He stays as far from civilization as he can get. His dogs are illegal. If caught, the state will euthanize the dogs and he’ll be in trouble. Still, he can’t leave her here for bear bait.

Ice and Secrets by Cherime MacFarlane is an Alaskan romantic adventure story with a mystery about gold that was hard to put down. It is a well written, suspenseful mystery surrounding a gold mine, bodies in a mineshaft, and a young woman thrown out of a moving helicopter. You can’t help but root for the lovable main characters, Lane and Micha. Cherime MacFarlane’s books are like an expedition to Alaska. The authentic flavor makes you feel you were there experiencing the cold, the exhilaration, and the beautiful landscape with Lane and Micha. I highly recommend.

CAN LINDA STOP THE DANGEROUS GAME SHE PLAYS? COUGAR HUNT CHERIME MACFARALANE COPPER RIVER ROMANCES BK 4

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb romance in AlaskaReviewed in the United States on April 6, 2015Verified PurchaseCougar Hunt (Copper River Romances Book 4) is the newest offering I've read from the talented Cherime MacFarlane. I have come to esteem Chermine for her Scottish series of historicals, as well as her Alaskan adventures, but Cougar Hunt is a romantic tale which makes Alaska not so much a character, but more a perfect background for her characters. Nevertheless, the pioneering spirit of Alaska pervades MacFarlane's every book, and makes you want to cuddle up with a beloved before a roaring fire.

Cougar Hunt centers on Linda Rae (Lrae), struggling to overcome her checkered past. Deserted by her father, she feels unworthy of love. The details of this will wrench your heart, so I won't spoil things for you.

Joey is the love interest in this story, has emotional problems of his own, the most pressing being he wants Lrae to love him.

Alaska can be a cold place for lovers, when passion is overcome by fears. The only cure for heartbreak here is to find reason to live and someone to love.

This tale, modern and yet mindful of the roots of romanticism, will fill you up, ignite your own heart, and make you remember all the loves you've had in days gone by.

The story is intriguing, gripping, at times scenic -- Alaska is always around you, a place a bit stranger than where you've been before. And so is the chance of love, of forgiveness, even of rapture.

Nor does MacFarlane forget our lust for adventure; she merely translates it into modern, attainable form. This book is elegant, simple, and immensely readable. If the right person rads it, expect to see it as a tv miniseries or feature film.

I highly recommend Cougar Hunt, if you're a woman or a man with blood running in your veins and an adventurous soul.

Great steamy romance tinged with a hint of Northern Exposure-style quirkiness STALKING RED: A COPPER RIVER ROMANCE BY CHERIME MACFARLANE

Stalking Red (Copper River Romances Book 2) by [Cherime MacFarlane]

Red, Brenda Levere has been on her own for a very long time. PR, Paul Revere Jones comes from a big family, part Alaska Native and part white. When Red moves into his apartment complex, PR begins the hunt of a lifetime. He wants the prickly woman. Red throws a big glitch in his plans by getting involved with another man. PR continues his friendly interaction with Red as he bides his time. Reardon dumps Red and PR happily deepens their friendship. But Red is shy having been burned before. It is one tough hunt. Can he get her to the altar or will Red keep him at arms length as a friend with benefits?

Great steamy romance tinged with a hint of Northern Exposure-style quirkiness. Interesting characters, PR and Brenda, look for love in a unique setting. The grandeur and beauty of the Alaskan countryside is part of what gives this story a little something extra. Even more than that is the wonderful way in which the ethnic and cultural context enlivens their tale. Not just the history and traditions of the indigenous people that populate the area and the novel, but the adventurous spirit of the outsiders who chose to make Alaska their home. The author's use of detail and description really grounds the story in every day life that is ordinary in many ways, but surprising, and even extraordinary at other times. Some of those details are poignant, a little bizarre and funny all at the same time--like how PR got his name and why he prefers to use initials. In fact, there's a lot to like in the PR's family and other secondary characters, including Brenda's coworkers at the law firm where she's employed. Fans of steamy romance will find a fresh take on the hunky male in pursuit of the woman of his dreams in this book. Challenges and obstacles to over come, too--like Brenda's royally ticked off and unscrupulous ex-boyfriend. Will they figure it out? You'll have to read the book yourself to find out. FIVE STARS

Then There Were Six by Cherime MacFarlane is off to a great start when Stu runs into Margaret (Meg) in a stalled car on the roadside in Alaska. He, an auto mechanic who owns his own shop, pulls over to help her out and in not too long a time there are sparks of chemistry between them. He’s a divorced father of three (Paul 10, Man 9, and Stuart Jr. 7) and she, with her daughter Mindy who is 11, is awaiting a divorce from her alcoholic husband. He fixes the problem temporarily and has her follow him to his shop where she notices his office is in disarray and offers to help on Saturdays to pay off the work he’ll be doing on her car. Both lonely, they start to fantasize about each other but when she shows up for work she’s cooled off and he doesn’t understand the change. The ice melts when she sees the cars he’s working on and they talk about their mutual appreciation for them. I love the way it was the affection for cars that softened the communication between them and continued to play into the storyline. A refreshing take on a female character, to be automotive savvy and think I recall reading something about the author drawing on her own automotive experience in writing this story. It shows. And it works well.
Another thing I love was the interjection of Jocko, Stu’s dog, and all the dog antics factored into the story. Being an animal lover this enhanced the read for me. And Jocko, Stu’s four year old pit bull, factors into the story as a protective character for Meg and her eleven year old daughter Mindy when the tension in the story rises and Stu finds out about the abuse levied at Meg and Mindy from Meg’s ex. The story continues and there’s an earthquake with an unexpected accident that changes everything between Stu and Meg, all for the better and all the sweeter. Without retelling the rest of the story, suffice it to say it was a delightful fun read.

I’m afraid of bodies of water. Especially LARGE bodies of water. So would I normally pick up a romance novel about a woman (Olivia) sailing her boat all the way from Hawaii to Alaska? And as she sails, picking up a stranded guy (Don) in the middle of the Gulf of Alaska on her way? That would be an emphatic no. That said, I have long dreamed of one day visiting Alaska and its pristine beauty. So when I read the excerpt on this story I was intrigued and had to check it out.

Believe me when I say I was not let down at all. This was a really good Alaskan romance, with the heroine as the hero for once, and the author, Cherime MacFarlane has done an exemplary job with her beautiful descriptions. Admittedly, it took a little bit for me to get into it initially as it started a little slow for me personally. This was mostly due to the fact that there is a fair amount of nautical terms and jargon used within of which I was unfamiliar with because, well, I’m afraid of water and will NEVER be caught dead, or alive, on a boat. So for me, a lot of that went way over my head.

But the story is well written and the characters were clearly defined. I had a little trouble after a bit keeping some character names straight. It felt like quite a few more were popping up as I read along. This novel is the third or fourth in the series, I believe, so its possible some of the names were from previous stories. But rest assured, this CAN be read as a stand-alone without difficulty .

I would highly recommend this story for anyone looking for a good romance with an ending that’ll make you laugh out loud. (At least, it did for me.)
