THE MEMORY TREE –A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS STORY BY SUSAN LYNN SOLOMON

In Central Florida, Farrell’s Orchards is no longer what it had once been. Deborah Hannel knows this. She and her sister, Leah, grew up here, raised by their Aunt Harriet and Uncle Max. Uncle Max is gone now, as is Leah’s husband; as are the husbands of several cousins. It seems divorce is as much a family tradition as Deborah’s oyster stuffing, and bringing new ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree. When Deborah arrives alone for Christmas at Farrell’s Orchards, will the ornament she’s brought to hang on the tree be a memory of another impending divorce?

THIS BOOK WOULD MAKE A BEAUTIFUL MOTHERS DAY OR SHOWER GIFT! I LOVE YOU, BE CAREFUL JUDY SNIDER

a wonderful reminder about love and care

From the moment we are born, someone is telling us to be careful. No matter what country we call home or what language we speak, these words follow us our entire lives. You might hear parents, friends, family or children lovingly say this phrase at least once a day. Think about all of the times that a loved one goes off to school, play or work, and you say, “I Love You, Be Careful!”

“I Love You, Be Careful” is a heartwarming and uplifting book. There is a page to personalize it as a gift for adults and children. The book’s beautiful illustrations capture poignant memories and cause one to reflect on all the “Be Careful” moments in life and smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the Message~!!Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2011I Love You, Be Careful by Judy Snider and Joan Dickow is a Children's Picture Book on Parenting and Relationships.

From the moment we are born, someone is there telling us to be careful. There isn't no one that hasn't been told by someone, to be careful, whether they are playing, or traveling or just doing everyday things, a mom, dad, friend etc. has told you to watch what you are doing because you are loved.

A baby is born and we read how the parents watch over her, protecting her and reminding her to be careful. From climbing trees, playing in the park or beach, ballet recitals, first dates, marriages and the birth of the child's own baby, her parents are there to remind her that they love her and to be careful until the moment she says the same things to her own child, bringing the book full circle.

I thought the pictures were delightful and lead to much discussion about the events on the pages. Each page is simply written giving you a chance to let your imagination soar as you feel the message the book is trying to convey. The illustrations by Candy B. Driver were colourful, friendly and beautifully depicted and children will delight in pouring over their stories as you read to them.

This is a wonderful tribute to an extraordinary family ~ From Sea to Sea by Nelda Bedford Gaydou

From a three-week voyage of more than 7000 miles from New Orleans to Buenos Aires in 1964 through an eight-day, 3258-mile round-trip drive between Evanston, Illinois and Clovis, New Mexico in 2017, whether in their prime or in their nineties, the Bedfords have packed a lot into their life's journey. Follow their inspiring story of faith and service, set in fascinating times and places in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres.

Review From Sea to Sea by Nelda B. Gaydou

This is a wonderful tribute to an extraordinary family as the author takes the reader on a fifty plus year odyssey. It follows their winding journey on a world-wide adventure. Using vignettes, Gaydou highlights the remarkable exploits of her family as they work and travel in the United States, South America, and Europe. Along the way she introduces the reader to spectacular people who made a real difference in the lives of those around them.

This is a story of love and friendship against the backdrop of some of the most dramatic events of the late twentieth century in the South Cone. Along the way the author peppers her narrative with historical tidbits to help the reader understand the circumstances of what is happening in the United States, Argentina, and their surrounding neighbors. Not just along for the ride, she showcases how her family was intertwined with the events, cultures, and people.

Through her stories Gaydou highlights how the various cultures have coalesced to create Argentina and how her family has become part of that mixture of North American, Spanish, Italian, German, etc. cultures which makes the world such a delightful place.

GET THE HANKIES READY---TO LIFE! A Young Holocaust Survivor's Journey to Freedom MARSHA CASPER COOK

Sala Lewis, who at age ten was left alone to wander the streets of Poland after her family was taken away by the Nazis. She had been out with her friends and came home to find her family gone and the apartment where she lived closed off and she was not allowed in. Everything she possessed was no longer hers. She had no family, no clothes, no food, and at that moment in time, no future. It was because she was strong willed and confident that she made her way to find her sister who had been taken to a concentration camp.

Because Dora was older and experienced as to what you needed to do in the camps to stay alive she helped her sister adjust to the vigorous role of working in the camps and following orders. Dora had raised herself to a level where she oversaw three hundred young women and if they all followed orders everyone was safe but if one of the women tried to escape Sala would be killed.

Once the sisters were together, nothing could stop them which is why they both lived to tell their story.

Their love and commitment to each other continued to be beyond reproach throughout their time together. They believed in the American dream and the land of opportunity. The proudest day of their lives was when they became United States citizens.

This was a well written story about two sisters who survived the holocaust at a very young age. The author does a good job of developing the story and telling the reader what it was like to be 10 years old in a Nazi camp. I found the drama and suspense of the story drawing me in and wanting to find out what happens to these sisters. Good read and I would recommend this one to everyone.

The story of a dedicated father who only wants to his daughter to forgive him! This story will bring tears to your eyes! A FATHER FIRST BY GARY D. HENRY

A FATHER FIRST.jpg
This is the story of a dedicated father. Thomas Stevens grew up as a farmers son in rural Nebraska. He, his three brothers, and three sisters helped their parents around the farm as much as they could. He loved the business aspect of farming more than the sweat and hard work and told of his desires at an early age to the displeasure of his father. An understanding and loving man, Thomas father would not insist that his children remain on the farm and assisted young Thomas in his pursuits.
Christmas was a special time for the Stevens household, and the family made it a weeklong celebration within the old farmhouse. Thomas became quite wealthy. Through quirks of fate, he met a woman in trouble named Emily. Given Thomas’s upbringing, he quickly came to her aid and soon fell in love with her. Thomas’s selflessness and kindness toward others impressed Emily, and she learned quickly that Thomas was the man she had always hoped to meet. Together they had a child named Sarah. Sarah provided much love and laughter in their happy household, and Thomas could see that Sarah possessed a level of kindness and caring that angels might envy. All seemed perfect until one day a simple trip to the grocery store and an out of control car hit Emily’s car head on and took her life. Thomas was devastated, but he had Sarah and his family to help him pull through the terrible trauma and devastating grief.
Years went by until another accident sent Thomas again into a depression that lasted much of the remainder of his life. Thomas, young Sarah, and two of Sarah’s cousins got into Thomas’s car. He inadvertently neglected to lock Sarah securely into her seat belt, and a head-on accident sent his beautiful twelve-year-old daughter through the windshield, paralyzing her for life. Thomas vowed to make things right, but Sarah harbored a lifetime of resentment and bitter hatred toward her father and eliminated him from her life. Thomas tried everything to regain her love, but nothing he did would restore her trust or rekindle their loving relationship. He set out on an incredible journey that reaped him astonishing successes in his business world but one fraught with heart-wrenching depths into dementia, loss, prison, and despair, all for the sole purpose of restoring his and Sarah’s relationship and life together as a family.
