The Binding was a good read by Samantha Jacobey. Merideth is that daughter of a wealthy politician. Her mother is murdered and she finds out that she is next. Rider is ex-military who is placed in charge of protecting Meri. Meri and Rider find her mother’s old book to find out who is after her and why. I enjoyed reading Meri and Rider’s story and can’t wait to read more by Samantha Jacobey.

I really enjoyed reading it!

It’s a very thrilling story and I loved how unexpected the ending was. A very well-written novel that I enjoyed reading a lot.
Rider and his father are attending the funeral of someone his father knew a long time ago. He doesn’t understand why his father has brought him here when he didn’t even know these people. Apparently the deceased was someone special to his father and now his father wants to help the family uncover secrets that are better forgotten.
Meri has just lost her mother. She is still in shock and grieving when she meets Rider. Suddenly, two youngsters are thrown together due to unexpected circumstances. It seems that Meri is in danger and for some reason Rider is appointed as her bodyguard. On the run, as they spend time together not only do they learn more about their past but also pave a path to their future, a future that neither of them had anticipated.
It’s a fast-paced novel. I liked the flow of it and the characters too. I think that it is a very good start to a promising series. Also, it is a bonus that the book can be read as stand-alone.

“What Fate has deemed cannot be avoided…”

This series drew me in from the very beginning. There are many aspects to the story and the threads are clear and well-defined throughout the entire set. Each character in the story plays a very important role and while the writing is not overly detailed, it very well explained so at no point was I “lost”. I did get LOST in the story and didn’t look up from the first page to the last.

This set has an ebb and flows to it that just naturally follows a path toward its destination. There are many, many lines that I highlighted as I was reading and I would like to print them, laminate them and hang them around my office similar to the inspiration posters of the 90s. Here are a few of my favorites:

“The choices we make dictate the lives we lead”
“There cannot be light without darkness”
(paraphrasing) We are under construction from the moment we are born.

I absolutely recommend THE ANGEL SET and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

His page is supposed to accompany him but his sister, Abby, feels trouble looming over them. She tricks everyone and poses as Erik’s page and she goes on the journey with him. Good thing too because Abby is one cunning cookie! They are constantly bickering back and forth as siblings do but I definitely don’t think Erick would have made it out of this one alive if not for his wonder younger sister. LOL! I do hope that this series continues as I would like to continue following their sibling antics and see what other trouble they get in, or out, of.

Original, plenty of twists and turns.

Samantha Jacobey’s, The Wicked Awakened, is a perfect Halloween read.

Sarah and her childhood best friend, Karen, are off to college. Unlike Karen, Sarah is a dedicated student. Karen has other interests.

I loved the depiction of the two childhood friends and their relationship. I thought the author did an excellent job of portraying the complex ties that bonds friends and how it can mask competing impulses.

In high school, both girls shared an interest in witchcraft. Karen’s ties went deeper than Sarah knew.

Karen is involved with a dangerous coven, who are interested in recruiting Sarah.

Things go bump in the night, creative and original twists. Stories involving the occult. Some of the twists and turns, I didn’t see coming.
