Great Read

The Binding was a good read by Samantha Jacobey. Merideth is that daughter of a wealthy politician. Her mother is murdered and she finds out that she is next. Rider is ex-military who is placed in charge of protecting Meri. Meri and Rider find her mother’s old book to find out who is after her and why. I enjoyed reading Meri and Rider’s story and can’t wait to read more by Samantha Jacobey.

A witch story reimagined. I loved the plot and characters and the pacing was wonderful. I read a fair amount of paranormal literature and found this one fresh and fun. This author has a great command of many genres. I hope there will be a second book to follow. Read it and have fun.

I really enjoyed reading it!

It’s a very thrilling story and I loved how unexpected the ending was. A very well-written novel that I enjoyed reading a lot.
Rider and his father are attending the funeral of someone his father knew a long time ago. He doesn’t understand why his father has brought him here when he didn’t even know these people. Apparently the deceased was someone special to his father and now his father wants to help the family uncover secrets that are better forgotten.
Meri has just lost her mother. She is still in shock and grieving when she meets Rider. Suddenly, two youngsters are thrown together due to unexpected circumstances. It seems that Meri is in danger and for some reason Rider is appointed as her bodyguard. On the run, as they spend time together not only they learn more about their past but also pave a path to their future, a future that neither of them had anticipated.
It’s a fast-paced novel. I liked the flow of it and the characters too. I think that it is a very good start to a promising series. Also, it is a bonus that the book can be read as stand alone.

This was a very entertaining read. Ms. Jacobey devises some very cool twists in the “battle” between old and new witchery, soul possession, and the darkness of sorcery.

This story is about best friends Sarah and Karen. It is their dabbling in witchcraft that brings out a nasty witch by the name of Morcant. There is also a romance in the background with a maybe bad guy Blake?

This book has solid writing and very gripping action between almost all the characters. This a read I will recommend and hope you enjoy it as I did.

A Perfect Read Just in Time for Halloween

It’s October and almost every book club I am involved with is buzzing about horror and paranormal books, and it is fun for those of us who aren’t hardcore PNR and horror fans. I’ve indulged in several books this month that fall outside of my normal go-to genres, but I think Samantha Jacobey’s The Wicked Awakened has been the most enjoyable.

Sarah and her childhood best friend Karen are off to college, living together with several other students, but growing apart as Sarah is dedicated to her studies and Karen has, well, different priorities. I was immediately drawn to the relationship between these two. So many childhood friendships struggle to continue on into adulthood, and Ms. Jacobey does an excellent job of conveying those stresses and strains girls go through at this time in their lives. Then there is what proves to become the heart of the story, in their high school years both girls had been curious about witchcraft. I grew up in an area that was very open to Wiccan and other alternative types of religions, so most of my friends went through some curiosity about it at some time during their teens – Sarah’s thoughts that Karen hadn’t taken any genuine interest in it hit a relatable place to me.

The story gets deeper into the evil coven Karen has found herself mixed up in and focuses on recruiting Sarah. The storylines, and “haunting” changes Sarah goes through and the experiences she has are very creative and original twists on stories involving the occult. I was pleasantly surprised to be completely taken off guard by a number of different twists and turns the plot took along the way.

Underlying all of it, there is a sweet romance building (maybe upon a twisted start, but nevertheless. ..) and a tale of true friendship and the extent one will go to for a friend in need.

For mature, over 18, audiences only for explicit sexual situations and implied violence. Highly recommended for fans of paranormal romance, those looking for a twisted thriller with supernatural undertones, and my absolute highest recommendation for anyone seeking a Halloween read.

Original, plenty of twists and turns.

Samantha Jacobey’s, The Wicked Awakened, is a perfect Halloween read.

Sarah and her childhood best friend, Karen, are off to college. Unlike Karen, Sarah is a dedicated student. Karen has other interests.

I loved the depiction of the two childhood friends and their relationship. I thought the author did an excellent job of portraying the complex ties that bonds friends and how it can mask competing impulses.

In high school, both girls shared an interest in witchcraft. Karen’s ties went deeper than Sarah knew.

Karen is involved with a dangerous coven, who are interested in recruiting Sarah.

Things go bump in the night, creative and original twists. Stories involving the occult. Some of the twists and turns, I didn’t see coming.

Awesome way to start this series!!

This is a great way to sink your teeth into this series. Don’t miss out. The story Samantha Jacobey weaves about the life Tori Farrell lives at the hands of the Dragon’s MC is dark, intense, and horrific and in this configuration, you are able to get a fuller picture of the person she becomes and the lengths she’s willing to go to protect herself as well as the people who get drawn into her life.This section of the series is at times hard to read because you are confronted with seriously disturbing situations that no one should ever have to experience and you go through the after-effects and psychological toll it takes on Tori. You are introduced to some men from her past that want to keep Tori the way she was raised, and you meet a man, Michael, who after dealing with his own demons from their past, starts to see Tori as someone who needs protecting herself and begins his process of falling in love.I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves dark reads that will emotionally put you through the wringer. You will cry, scream, and possibly throw your Kindle, but you will also laugh and see hope in even the most terrible of times is still possible.
