Wow, what an adventure! Admittedly, I’m usually not a big fan of these kinds of books (I tend to stick to the sci-fi and romance genres) but I decided to give “Cross-Ties” a chance and go into the read with an open mind, and I must say that it turned out to be a great decision. I could see early on, within the first few chapters, that the author is truly talented when it comes to weaving words into stories. The prose flows in a very smooth manner while conveying everything in very vivid way – I personally found it easy to visualize many of the scenes and also empathize and understand the feelings of Leah, the protagonist. I highly recommend ‘Cross-Ties’ to readers looking for a genuinely immersive and adventurous read. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future releases by Carolyn M. Bowen.

What an amazing story!! It was one that I couldn't put down! T.W. Knight has a wonderful way of keeping the story line flowing with just the right mix of tension, Love and comic relief. I look forward to the next book in Dark City Guardians series!

“What Fate has deemed cannot be avoided…”
This series drew me in from the very beginning. There are many aspects to the story and the threads are clear and well-defined throughout the entire set. Each character in the story plays a very important role and while the writing is not overly detailed, it very well explained so at no point was I “lost”. I did get LOST in the story and didn’t look up from the first page to the last.

This set has an ebb and flow to it that just naturally follows a path toward its destination. There are many, many lines that I highlighted as I was reading and I would like to print them, laminate them and hang them around my office similar to the inspiration posters of the 90s. Here are a few of my favorites:

“The choices we make dictate the lives we lead”
“There cannot be light without darkness”
(paraphrasing) We are under construction from the moment we are born.

I absolutely recommend this THE ANGEL SET and i look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Emlyn Goode is a writer who also happens to be a witch. Or maybe it’s the other way around. She, and her creator Susan Solomon, live in upstate New York near Niagara Falls. In this outing, Emlyn attends a meeting of her writers group and gets astrally transported to an area amusement park that’s being torn down to put up condos. She’s prompted in this trip by a new member of her group. When that new member turns up dead, Emlyn finds herself compelled to investigate. It doesn’t help that she’s a suspect and her new boyfriend, the assistant Chief of Police, has to treat her as a suspect.

The book is set around Halloween, and I happened to read it while waiting for trick-or-treaters at my house, so I found it especially timely. It’s a good cozy mystery. Emlyn needs to use her skills as a witch and good old gumshoe work to crack this case. Oh, and she’s helped by Elvira, the “talking” cat. I found this book very enjoyable.

The intricate details of the machinations of the Sisters and the others of the Council of the Realm are fascinating. After reading six books of this series I finally became convinced I knew what was going on here. The book is well written, is a cross over book but not for young teens or tweens. It is a good read that requires some willingness to do some rereading as you go along. I really enjoyed this one.

If you want a good look at the characters in the Lone Wolf series, you really need to read the collection of short stories that happened long before Lone wolf, Mark and Matilda worked together against the Kahlea and the Shakazhan. Reading the book, I gained a new appreciation for their past lives and the conflicts involved. I give the collection five stars and kudos to the author for weaving such complex back-stories for the main characters.
