She had heard through the hospital Intern grapevine about being an escort for very rich influential men and jumped at the chance. Well, the title is definitely something else, huh? Alright, this is my opinion, but I love this portrayal of women, I want women to think, feel and act as Lily does, because there is nothing more attractive than a strong and confident woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. There is something captivating in this story, the portrayal of all characters and the drastic changes from day to night make it for an awesome read, lessons are learnt in the hard way and in the end Lily would have to make a choice. Ultimately I think she chose right. There is a lot going on in this book and still, everything flows nicely, I love how detailed it was at moments, and especially I love how we see everything from the point of view of Lily, her thoughts and actions were interesting, this is a nice read you shouldn’t miss.
“THE STAR” is an enchanting book, illustrated with beautiful, colorful, and whimsical paintings, by world-renowned artist Judy Mastrangelo. It contains the entire immortal poem, which is also known as “TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR”, written by Jane Taylor. Judy has interpreted this in a unique and enthralling way, with delightful Fantasy Animals and other imaginative characters, all playing in a Magical Night-time Sky. Review:“THE STAR” is certainly a star release. Beautifully put together, handsomely designed and delicious in every way. This book will make a fine addition to the collections of those who love great artwork.

A book for who appreciates soft, classic, traditional illustration.
I got really interested in Judy Mastrangelo right when I first met her work. A contemporary artist doing such a meticulous artwork in this classic, traditional style is a really rare thing to find. I was very intrigued and curious to read and see her books. The Star is a book illustrating the famous poem Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Jane Taylor. I think the book is nice. The illustrations inside the book are as lovely as the cover illustration. The ageless, soft style in pink, blue and yellow of the illustrations fits nicely this classic poem. I appreciate the dedication with which these images were made, creating a dreamy world of orderly, sweet beauty. The design and formatting of the book are ok, but I think that these illustrations deserve more refined formatting. I recommend this book for children and adults who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustrations.

“The sores forming with unholy speed on Harley’s arms and legs confirmed the infection was spreading. Its poison surged through her veins with such momentum that she could feel its sting in the current of her pulse. Unrelenting pain seared every cell, and she struggled to maintain focus, despite the fever raging in her blood.” – Viral StormViral Storm continues the story of Casey Williams and her friends attempting to flee the country and expose the evil work of BioGenetics, creators of the virus that spawned the zombie apocalypse. Euthanizing her best friend, who’d been infected with the virus, was the most soul-crushing thing Casey could have imagined, but that was nothing compared to what happens next… Like the first book in the series, Viral Dawn, Viral Storm has gore, violence, and dark themes common in zombie apocalyptic fiction, but the book focuses more on the characters’ lives than other elements. The story centers on strong, young adult female characters as do similar books in female-centered dystopian fiction like The Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, and The Year of the Flood. Join Casey as her struggle for survival continues in Viral Storm.

THIS SHOULD BE A MOVIE – BEST READ OF THE YEAR
How does one put into words the depth that a book took them into? Ms. Rankin’s Viral Storm (book 2) left me with feeling an enormous desire for the rest of the story. I could not put it down, it felt as if I was walking beside each of the characters as the story unfolded around me. After listening to Book 1, Viral Dawn, I could hardly wait for book 2 and pre-ordered it. Although my (to be read list is long,} Viral Dawn had me in its sway and I put Viral Storm first on my list as soon as it became available. I was not disappointed, from the first page, it kept me enthralled, weeping for Haley’s predicament and praying for Casey, Kyle, Jordan, and Verna to escape and find a way to save the world from the man-made virus that was let loose on the public by the evilness of the desire to control all things. I could not put Viral Storm down until the last page of the book, even though it was the middle of the night and I knew it would make the next day more difficult for me. It is and was a thrilling read, my only regret is that I finished it and that I must wait till next year for its sequel. Viral Dawn and Viral Storm are labeled as YA books, but for me, the characters were ageless, the story terrific, the plot deep, and it is a series that I will reread through the years, even though I am not a zombie fan as such, I have put it on my list of best reads of the month. This series should be a movie or a TV series, it is that good. Thank you Ms. Rankin for writing this series.
Jo Pilsworth has created a very interesting universe of magical creature, with a prominent role for shifters and paranormal romance. In this book we follow the story of the tormented love at first sight two were-bears. There are many characters from other books who show up in the story, which can make it a little confusing if you're trying to keep up with who is who. While there is a lot of adventure, the focus is on the romantic relationship between Sergei and Kaitlyn/Karma.
Metamorphosis delves into the rather unusual life of Miranda Macleod, who has had a touch of the supernatural surrounding her since childhood. Miranda was leading a relatively normal life in an upper middle-class neighborhood as a mother, wife, and nurse. When her marriage begins to disintegrate, she becomes romantically involved with a mysterious American who recently moved from California and specializes in information technology in a high-end company. She is drawn to this man like no one else before. Her world is then turned upside down, and she is thrown into total chaos. She begins to experience terrifying physical transformations throughout her body. These experiences tear her apart physically, psychologically, and emotionally, reaching to the very core of her being. Everything unravels—her marriage, career, love, and self—as she battles to keep her own sanity and hold her family together. She moves through surreal experiences that are right out of the twilight zone. Miranda also explores her own reawakened sexuality during all this chaos by looking for love in all the wrong places. Her search for a cure also takes her alone halfway around the world. The more Miranda searches for the truth, the further down the rabbit hole she goes.

What an amazing imagination!
MacLeod has written a book that will totally keep you wondering: Will this woman, Miranda, survive the mysterious illness that has taken control of her body? Miranda finds it difficult to work because of her face breaking out in mysterious, moving things just under her skin. Then they start throughout her whole body. And none of the doctors she has seen have any idea what it is. Her children are worried, her husband thinks she’s crazy and her boss is ready to fire her. Can she survive this illness?

The story begins with Benita the first of several narrators who share their story as to why they are one of the faces behind the stone. As the reader is escorted around the cemetery, we listen to stories of alcohol, abuse, and suicide accompanied with a warning to readers about the consequences of apathy. It was the warning herald by Sam, "Hear my voice before you too wind up a face behind stone!" that sent chills down my spine. As I read on, I encounter more and more faces and was amazed at the author's ability to give life to these tragic figures. People, this is a ghost story like no other!
If I had to compare this book to anything already out there, I would have to compare it to the play, Our Town. However, unlike OT the story doesn't go in depth into the mundane parts of the characters. Faces Behind Stones gets straight to the point and starts where most stories end. From beyond the grave teens share their stories with the living, stories that went unspoken until now.
I wasn't expecting something like this from Fran Lewis her stories are usually uplifting and witty, this however, was much more dark and tragic. Using fiction, I was pleasantly surprised at how she was able to tackle the issues that plague today's youth. With a sympathetic ear, Fran listens to her characters and gives them a stage to tell their stories. Also in the end of the book, there is an appendix that helps educators and parents understand what's going on in the teen world. This is a must buy for those working with or living with teens.
