Constables Mike Borneo and Lissa Cassway along with detective Vince Vetters are racing to find the killer before he claims another victim. Was Feener just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Left with his wedding ring and his wallet, Feener's body isn't even cold when the killer strikes again-this time stabbing Phil Vetters, a comic known for his redneck shtick and the brother of detective Vince Vetters. Just as Vince vows revenge, the killer makes a fateful mistake when he stabs another comic and does not ensure his victim is dead before he leaves the crime scene.

The killer is a sicko, but not an idiot. He's right under everyone's noses and the anticipation of a righteous kill is all just part of the fun. Only time will tell if the killer will have the last laugh.

This is a good read that is reader friendly and you feel like you are sitting down with the author and listening to the tale. One that is set in the comic world. When a serial killer strikes out at stand-up comedians, those who are in the business are worried. In a comic club called the Laff Attak, Shelley and her boss Jeff are dealing with the crisis while at the same time trying to start a relationship.As the hunt for a killer goes on, readers get a fun story that also is suspenseful. The author does a great job with the telling of the tale and making readers happy with a great story. Some authors are just the kind you want to go back to time and time again when looking for a great book, Karen Vaughan is one of those authors.

From cat boxes to playtime the house cats cover mostly everything, but I can see a sequel in the future with new tricks and tips to keep us humans in line. My cat JJ took note and will probably use some of these methods on her human dad and me. It was well written with a sense of humor and from the cat’s point of view. A recommended read for all cats and humans alike. I give it 5 paws for an entertaining read.

When Lightning Strikes the Cottonwoods by Lisa L Borm, is a wonderfully written tale of the struggle to overcome childhood abuse and trauma through connection and lasting friendships. Friendships that last through loss and separation only to rekindle the bonds later in life.
It is both a love story and a story of the importance of belonging.
Ms. Borm is not only an excellent writer but sees an insight that few go into the heart and soul of people. Both male and female characters are strong with a sense of presence rarely found in many of today's books, even from the most successful and popular authors. Her writing style allows the reader to delve deeply into the hearts and minds of the characters, walk along with them all the while feeling their pain, confusion, hope, love, and mind.
One feels as if they live in this town, know these people intimately and can relate to them. It can make one long for a simpler life, without the hustle and bustle of the city.
When Lightning Strikes the Cottonwoods, is one of the best of literary adventures. It is reminiscent of books written by John Steinbeck, JD Salinger, William Faulkner, and Virginia Wolff. It is a rare book, and I’d happily place it on my shelf next to these other great novels.

Wow, this isn’t my usual genre so I wasn’t expecting such a roller-coaster of emotions, I loved this book! Some great twists and suspense along with a lovely romance, I even shed a few tears at one point … and I don’t cry!

Elaine (Lainey) tries to keep herself hidden from her stepdad. Jackson (Jax) the schools’ basketball heartthrob takes an instant shine to the quiet reserved nerdy girl who tries to keep herself to herself and hide under her big glasses and baggy clothes. On the night of their first date everything changes for Elaine, can she now keep herself hidden and safe?

Whilst this is a fairly short read, I still connected well with Lainey and Jax. I’ve only dropped my rating a little as the story is told throughout in dual POV, which I personally found annoying as each time it recapped on the same story. However, this doesn’t really distract from the fact this is a really great read and I’d definitely recommend.

Where is part three?

Excellent follow-up to Blood Phase G.O.D.s Series #1!!!! The character development from the first story to the new addition is seamless. You can feel Griffin’s attachment to Tassta has grown deeper. I cannot wait to see where the character’s go in the third installment of this series!!! I recommend reading the 1st book in the series as to understand the concepts and backstory of the main characters.

This starts by introducing Kent Griswald, movie executive and thoroughly nasty man. Then we meet his much nicer brother Connor and are surprised when Connor is the one who becomes a shooting victim.

However it isn't long before Kent is the one who ends up dead. You feel like saying 'serves him right!'

It all becomes more interesting with the arrival of the investigating team of Detectives Walter Scott and Vanessa Weinstein and then gets a little hot with the interaction between Detective Scott and witness Cadence.

This is a real page turner - can Scott keep Cadence safe plus can he keep his mind on the case and not on her body? Who is really the killer?

This is an excellent murder mystery, well written with lots of suspense and the right amount of romantic sexual tension. Plus I love the humour throughout. Add to all that some great characters and you have a recipe for a very good book, well worthy of five stars
