Angelically Written!!!
By Gladys #XOXOtheNerdGirl
In the same vein as Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series and Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series, TW Knight’s book His Soul to Keep captures the interest of lovers of all things paranormal. Including me!!!
One would think that this has been done numerous times before, but Knight was able to create characters with emotions so deep and a fight so life-like that you were nothing less than engrossed from page one. In this first book of the series, Rail and Cassidy are bound to each other in the middle of a demonic war on earth. Cassidy isn’t ready for the unbelievable factor, but Rail isn’t any more ready for love.
Is it because their souls are bound or is it truly something more!! Grab this book today, and you are in luck as book two is available as well.
5 Stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl Hat.

Morcant and Blake Korrigan own a little shop of horrors, where witches congregate and people ending up dead isn’t rare. When Karen Hiltzman joins their coven, she has no idea what she’s getting into. Drawn in, the group convinces her to recruit her best friend, Sarah Matthews, after discovering that she bears a very special birthmark; one that indicates she’s the girl they’ve been waiting for.

His ritual transforms Sarah’s body and will bring the dreaded Brenna back to life when it’s completed. Original, plenty of twists and turns.
By UsedtobeCrankyTop Contributor: Fantasy Books
Samantha Jacobey’s, The Wicked Awakened, is a perfect Halloween read.
Sarah and her childhood best friend, Karen, are off to college. Unlike Karen, Sarah is a dedicated student. Karen has other interests.
I loved the depiction of the two childhood friends and their relationship. I thought the author did an excellent job of portraying the complex ties that bonds friends and how it can mask competing impulses.
In high school, both girls shared an interest in witchcraft. Karen’s ties went deeper than Sarah knew.
Karen is involved with a dangerous coven, who are interested in recruiting Sarah.
Things go bump in the night, creative and original twists. Stories involving the occult. Some of the twists and turns, I didn’t see coming.

Infidelity, partying, and drugs was a musician’s mandatory lifestyle.
Candiss Ford thought dating a rock star was insane; she believed every cliché attached to them. Then she met Eclipse lead singer NiXX Williams…
After proposing to Candiss, NiXX meets an aspiring model named Farren Wade, who offers the rocker something too tempting for him to resist.
During a chance meeting, Candiss learns of the relationship between her fiancé and the model. Thinking that’s a typical, inevitable occurrence in NiXX’s circle -rockers and models coupling- she decides she’d rather feel the heartache now, and sets NiXX free to be with the woman she believed he preferred: the lovely Farren. NiXX is left wondering if he’ll ever call the woman he loved, MINE.

“Pleased that I discovered this book” – ”I Was Just a Radioman” by Pamela Ackerson

In 1940, still in high school, Henry P. Lawrence joined the Navy Reserves. Little did he know that a year later, in May of 1941, he’d be called to service and deployed to Hawaii. No one believed the Japanese would be aggressive enough to attack a U.S. territory.
Their plan…to cripple the United States military.
The attack on Pearl came hard and fast. I Was Just a Radioman is a collection of the memoirs of ARM Henry P. Lawrence, a WW II Pearl Harbor survivor, Black Cat, and decorated war veteran.

Pleased that I discovered this book
By Ron Miner
Ron Miner, author of “Sketches of a Black Cat”
It has been my good fortune to have had the pleasure of interviewing quite a number of WWII Black Cats in the last few years, and I dearly wish Henry Lawrence had been one of them. But thanks to his daughter, Pamela Ackerson, Henry’s legacy is preserved for any who are a little curious about those night flying Cats, as well as enthusiasts like myself.
Long before he ever operated a radio on board a PBY painted entirely black, ARM Lawrence endured an experience only a few of us can imagine. In vivid detail, he describes the morning of December 7th as he and his fellow crewman struggled to set up defenses, protect planes, and help wounded on Ford Island as the smoke and fires raged in the harbor surrounding them. His indoctrination into the war was sudden. With their PBYs destroyed, he would now embark on a new and different journey to wide-ranging locations throughout the Pacific theater.
This memoir reads easily and feels like you are sitting in Henry’s own living room as he serves up his experiences in training and combat. In my case, the know-how of this “Just a Radioman” was fascinating, as I had yet to meet one who had flown in a PBY. The extent of his Black Cat adventures in late 1944 was another surprise. They were still extremely active and focused on night search and attack missions. The crew launched themselves into numerous glide bombing and strafing runs with enemy shipping that are methodically described, and they were appropriately decorated for their courageous efforts.

“Soulful” – “Oh, Cedar, My Cedar: Can a tree know its fate?” by Michael Bussa

Soulful
This short story captured me right away. The author takes a strong tree like the cedar and adds a soul to it. I could feel its struggles with the seasons, its triumphs over seasons like it’s human. Highly recommended.

“Wonderful fiction which will take you immediately into another mysterious world!” – “The Choosing” (The Memory Keepers) by Marta Moran Bishop

Marta the choosing with blurb.jpg

5-star reviewLeyla Atke
Wonderful fiction which will take you immediately into another mysterious world!
The Choosing by Marta Moran Bishop is an amazing fiction describing the ancient culture and customs of a fictional tribe.
The main character is a young woman named Mondoani elected by gods to be an apprentice of Old Mother, who was the memory keeper of the tribe. Foreseeing the imminent end, Old Mother hurry to make Mondoani the new memory keeper, who will protect the tribe and provide it with a safe and happy existence.
To do this, they go into a long and arduous journey together with the tribe to implement the transfer of power ceremony at the designated location.
The story takes place in the background of beautiful descriptions of ancient customs and culture of the tribe, which worships many gods.
Upon arrival at the designated place, Old Mother falls into a trance to make the transfer of the power to Mondoani. Unfortunately, Old Mother will never come out of this trance, which became the last one in her deserved life. Mondoani becomes the new memory keeper of the tribe, who should lead it and protect against adversity, asking gods about welfare.
Becoming the new memory keeper, Mondoani herself begins to worry about how to find a new apprentice. Looking for a new apprentice, Mondoani regrettably realizes that she will take away the daughter from her mother, and deprive her of happiness to have children and normal life. She also understands perfectly the state of the unfortunate mother. Mondoani begins to bother when she realizes that the choice could fall on beautiful Ashtra, daughter of Naomi.
When it comes to action, Sky Spirit and Spider-Woman make a much unexpected choice: they choose Towandiaka on the one hand, and on the other Ashtra. Then they bring them together and announce them bonded in holy matrimony not only in this life but also in the next! This will, of course, allow them to have children and be happy parents.
This moment, emotionally described by Marta, made me so happy that I felt radiating myself. The gods then chose not one but two young women who have become Mondoani’s apprentices.
The book gave me great pleasure not only because of the perfect plot but also because of the wonderful and realistic description of the culture and customs of the ancient tribe. I had the feeling that Marta may witness it herself in some mysterious way. It will remain a mystery to me forever. Reading the book, I felt I’m where.
The Choosing by Marta Moran Bishop is a special tribute to the culture and traditions of our ancestors, it teaches us to live in peace and harmony with nature and respect each other. Highly recommended!
