“An excellent collection of short stories from Ella’s life” – Wish Upon An Elf by Andi Lawrencovna

#amwriting, #novel, #mswl, #romanticfantasy, #darkfantasy, #paranormalfantasy

Some stories should never end, and some stories have beginnings you’ve never heard before. In the NeverLands, Fairy Tales aren’t quite like you remember, and these stories are only the beginnings…

Promised the Night

Before she was the Queen of Assassins, Ella was an elf searching for her place amongst her people. Called die Aren, Little Fox, she was sent on a mission to far off lands full of demons who live in the flames, eating the Shadows of her power. But that power is great, and the demons who would subdue her will learn the strength living in the Dark.

Ella’s First Ball

For immortal races, one hundred years is not long at all. One hundred balls, on the other hand, is something entirely different, having to dance and smile and pretend to enjoy the charade year after year. But this is the Elichisolos’ first ball, and she has never met the prince of the palace before and knows only the prize of his death that she is determined to claim for herself.Except the prince isn’t what she expected, and an assassin who can’t make the kill must find her way to the dance instead.

In the Still of the Night

After a year of believing the love of his life was dead, Kit finally learns her fate is more than he could ever have dreamed of, but his fate is not something he would wish on anyone to have to live with. Crushed by the weight of what he suffered at his uncle’s hands, Kit cannot find his way to believing his chance at happiness can still be possible, until a breath of a kiss made In the Still of the Night.

*These stories should all be read after Charming: The Complete Crown and Daggers Series as they involve characters from the main series.

Lolah

An excellent collection of short stories from Ella’s life

These three short stories are all based on Ella, and different stages of her life (and so should be read after the Charming books):

Promised the Night
This story takes place when she is still a very young Elf (known as Little Fox), and is sent on a mission to the far away land of the demons with a team of her fellow assassins. But when all doesn’t go to plan, Ella is about to discover what the Darkness and the future has in store for her, and the demons that this Little Fox is not too easy to snare.

Ella’s First Ball
The story of the first Birthday Ball that Ella goes to, where she and Kit meet for the first time. Whilst these events are referred to In later stories, it’s lovely to read the actual story first hand!

In the Still of the Night
This story takes place later, following the return of Kit to the Palace after events at his Uncle’s. Struggling to cope with life, especially in the long dark nights, without Ella at his side (he believed her dead), what would be give to have her returned to him?

Soulless and exiled from Heaven the Dark Knights have spent millennia protecting humanity ~ His Soul to Save (Dark Knights of Heaven Book 3) by TW Knight

Soulless and exiled from Heaven the Dark Knights have spent millennia protecting humanity from Lucifer and his demons. But the longer they live the closer they come to joining Lucifer’s ranks in Hell. Their only hope is to find their soul keepers, and love. After an attack by a demon left her injured and weak Amber Fitzpatrick welcomed the attention and caring of her rescuer Jacob—until he turned into an abusive monster. The night Amber flees the possessive, extraordinarily toxic relationship Jacob reveals his true demonic nature. Zach has more than Lucifer’s minions to contend with. Each day brings him closer to Hell. For fifty years he’s walked the thin line between sanity and giving in to his dark urges. Urges that go against his calling as a healer and a teacher. Every battle drives him closer to the edge, feeds his inner demon and pushes him to find a permanent solution to death. When Zach meets Amber he sees a chance for salvation. But Amber’s experience with Jacob makes her afraid to start any kind of relationship with Zach, especially discovering he’s not that different then the man she walked away from. Can she set her fear aside and save Zach before she loses him to the darkness forever?

5 Star Review of His Soul to Save by TW Knight

Another great installment in the Dark Knights of Heaven. While the book could stand on its own, I strongly recommend reading it after the previous two. It really does help put all of the pieces of the puzzle in the right places since there are a lot of plot points that tie to the previous books. It’s one of the traits of the series I love. Everything ties together. No characters ever really leave once they’ve had their chance to shine.

Overall, this is my favorite Knight by far. I am a sucker for a tortured soul and the fact that Zach is also incredibly smart, caring and wears glasses just makes him even more lovable. I spent a good part of the book wanting to do nothing but hug him.

Amber is a fantastic heroine. The way she’s introduced to everything and how she reacts is that of a new reader to the series. To me, it seems like Amber is the woman I’d be if in that same situation. She’s strong, caring and stubborn. She refuses to be left out of her own life any longer. Love a strong female lead and you’ll love her.

His Soul to Save

T W Knight has done it again! This book is every bit as good as the first two! It brings Zach and Amber together to help fight the devil and protect the rest of their "family". The devil is determined to pull another fallen angel into the darkness but has seriously underestimated their strength to resist! Will he finally win or will he be set back on his heels to lick his wounds again? I experienced every emotion while reading this book! I laughed at the characters and cried for them! I cursed and held my breathe!! I love TW Knight's style of writing and look forward to reading more from her!

Left Me Again Wanting More!

Just as His Soul to Hold and His Soul to Keep, you'll be putting off those household chores to turn the page! Round three in the Dark Knights, TW Knight does it again. A glass of wine, a comfy blanket and a copy of His Soul to Save made a whacky winter tolerable

Ten entertaining biographical stories set in Dickens County, Texas ~ King of the Hill by Nelda Bedford Gaydou

Ten entertaining biographical stories set in Dickens County, Texas portray rural life during the Great Depression. They reflect the straitened circumstances, strong work ethic and close sense of community of the time, as well as the resilience and ingenuity of that generation. Despite the difficulties, or perhaps because of them, Benji’s childhood was marked by strong family ties and sheer love of life.

MeetAuthor Nelda Bedford Gaydou

Nelda is the author of delightful biographical books about the Great Depression, Post World War II and early 1960's. Her stories include King of the Hill – Set in Depression Era Texas, From Sea to Sea – takes place in 1964 and follows the journey of the Globe Trotting Bedford family. Her third book, To the Ends of the Earth which chronicles the life of missionaries who travel from Texas to Patagonia.

"Oh, the secrets, deceits and suspense kept me on my feet." ~ The Long Road Home: Romantic Murder Mystery by Carolyn Bowen

After a lifetime of being protected and sheltered by her parents, Kate is thrown into a state of turmoil after their sudden death. With nowhere else to turn, she finds herself living with her fiancé, a conniving businessman who is well on his way to becoming a corrupt super-lawyer. At the same time, Kate’s father’s law firm houses more secrets than a politician’s hard drive. Later, she receives a shocking surprise when a long-lost half-brother enters her life. Can Kate rise to these challenges, discover the truth and re-emerge as a stronger, smarter version of herself?

Oh, how I enjoyed reading, The Long Road Home. It was one way for me to sit and relax reading a story full of suspense, and everyday drama that many have endured in ‘real life.’ Oh, the secrets, deceits, and suspense kept me ‘on my feet’ – Yes, another page-turner.

I also loved how there were no unnecessary interruptions between scenes. It takes a highly skilled writer who can craft a story such as this one with so many categories (suspense, drama, action, mystery and deception) all rolled into one, and the reader never misses a beat. Yes, I believe the story flowed well without scene divisions, and I was very happy to plunge right through reading along as I was able to keep up with the story line, characters, and their motives within this well-written story.
I’ll have to share with you, however, that I held my breath toward the end hoping for the story to end my way, and without spoiling it for you, it certainly did!

Julie

An amazing read

Seduction, primal yearning in her womanhood despite her hesitation and insecurity, relatable. I was immediately engrossed in the story and by page 22 I was captivated. As much as it is a romantic piece, it’s also witty. I laughed while being turned on. The only thing I would change is that it’s too short. I wanted more. Oh well, I’ll just have to read Angela’s novel, Chasing Dreams. So glad I already purchased it and I can’t wait to read it.
