A second chance Alaska romance.
4.0 out of 5 stars Realistic, slow burn romanceReviewed in the United States on August 10, 2021Verified PurchaseReally enjoyed this slow burn, second chance romance that centers around newcomer Trudy and Alaska native Deak. The attraction is instant from the moment they meet and
it’s the friction from the beginning that sparks the initial interest. Deak is still grieving the loss of his wife and he’s got plenty of his own demons. Trudy is a headstrong, independent woman who’s out to prove not only to herself but the rural townspeople that she can tough out the winter. The romance is a definite slow build but I enjoyed the journey Trudy and Deak take to find what they both want and need.
The best part of the book was the realism and the immersion in the rough, pioneer-like, brutal and rugged lifestyle mixed with a variety of characters and the beautiful landscape.
