NOW: 99c US, 79p UK! – “Another wild ride from Samantha Jacobey.” – Rendered (The Irrevocable Series, Book 1) by Samantha Jacobey

The end of the world is coming, or so they say, and that puts Bailey Dewitt on a crash course with Armageddon. Orphaned, she and her young brothers find themselves living with their renegade uncle as part of a group of survivalists. She struggles against them, searching for a way to escape, but every discovery only terrifies her more.
For Caleb Cross, the Ranch is a way of life. The members of their group are family, and none should come between them. Smitten from the moment he met Bailey, his choices are no longer easy, his path no longer clear. He wants to welcome her and the twins into their fold and hopes his kin will agree.
But the elders who lead them aren’t interested in the troublesome girl. They are plotting for the time they will be rid of her and expect Caleb to go along with their plans – he is after all one of them.
At first, Bailey resists Caleb’s charms but soon must admit that she desperately needs a friend. She has no intention of anything more, but when the elders make their move, she is forced to trust him with her very life.
They both have hard lessons to learn. Relationships built on secrets and lies don’t come with guarantees. When the world falls apart around them, some things are Irrevocable.

Another wild ride from Samantha Jacobey

Almost seventeen Bailey learns that her parents have died in a car crash on their wedding anniversary. If that’s not bad enough she and her young twin brothers are put in the care of an absent uncle with some baggage. The next thing she knows she is taken to a small city in the middle of TEXAS! (As a Yankee that alone would be enough to make me slit my wrists.

They settle in for a few months and then the reality of her new life changes again. Bailey is a privileged self-proclaimed good girl but acts out hoping to return to her home. She is smart and intuitive but nothing in her life has prepared her for what’s coming. Without giving away the whole book suffice it to say she needs all her social skills to survive and that may not be enough. She needs to get tough and fast.
I’ve read several of Ms. Jacobey’s books and again she makes you care about the characters and has a well-developed plot line. Reading this book was like eating peanuts and it went by too fast. Will Bailey figure out how to survive? What will happen to her brothers? Can she learn to be bad enough to make it through the ordeal? Do she and Caleb fall into each other’s arms? This book does not answer those questions but it does set the reader up for the next two books in the series coming out this summer. Myself I cannot wait to see how this plays out. Buy the book and take the ride.

The Irrevocable Series is a pretty clean YA dystopian series (end of the world

The Irrevocable Series is a pretty clean YA dystopian series (end of the world…. not zombie apocalypse). I enjoyed this series very much. I am definitely all for end-of-the-world books. I think my favorite part of this series was Bailey. The loss of the most important people in her life changed her from pleasant to an angry at the world, bitter self-centered girl. Through each of the books, I could see and feel her growth as a person is trying to deal with everything. Book one sets up the series and book two and three are where all the good stuff happens (for me). These books are action-packed and full of twists and turns. The story is well written and the main characters are relatable and real. There were a few too many side characters for me to keep straight in my head. All in all, this is a great series and I would recommend this to everyone!

Quickie About Misconceptions

Kara and Cam had dated once in high school which ended up being a try to get his jealous girlfriend back. Years later, they cross paths again at a bar and misconceptions almost destroy their second chance. The characters are believable and the situations are right on target. Would love to see this book in a much longer version as it has great potential. Very entertaining.

 Cute, short

Overall, a pretty cute, short story. I really liked Cam and Kara and enjoyed reading about them. I don’t mind short stories, but I would have liked more of a HEA but was still happy with how things ended up. I was gifted a copy.

NOW 99c – “Ms. Drewa has written an intriguing, enthralling, paranormal mystery in The Owl of The Sipan Lord.” – The Owl of the Sipan Lord by Viv Drewa

Martin and Clare Montgomery worked together as an archaeological team until Martin mysteriously died. Fearing the rumors of a curse. Clare vowed to never return, that was until a rare owl began to haunt her dreams. Was this a sign from her beloved Martin or something more sinister?

AN EXCITING PARANORMAL ADVENTURE

Ms. Drewa has written an intriguing, enthralling, paranormal mystery in The Owl of The Sipan Lord. Her characters are wonderfully penned, full of life, and believable.

The story is one that you will have trouble putting down and will wish for more. I hope she writes a sequel. I loved this paranormal mystery set in Peru and full of archaeological temples, ancient civilizations, and a romance to boot.

Highly Recommended

Delightfully thrilling fast read

Bernhardt’s award-winning series debut “In Gray” was surprisingly colorful and thrilling. YA readers, readers on the go, or busy readers squeezing in leisure time on their lunches will appreciate the frequent breaks and short chapters. Despite these breaks, I found myself unable to stop and put it down. Main character Daisy’s conflicts quickly spin out of control, following an interaction that any other person would call normal; that is to say, human. She’s in a horrible crash. That could happen to any one of us, right? What the reader won’t see coming is how this singular event gives way to a whole new world with individuals, societies, and even her own memories unfurling in ways that reveal that she’s no longer living in the world she always knew. Nothing will ever be the same again. Even though she finds her physical sight deprived as a result of her injuries, the sight she gains in this new world is greater than anything she ever could have lost. When I picked up this book, I was ready for a clean and tidy wrap-up, but I was delighted to find that Bernhardt left room for more excitement and drama. I can promise, Reader, you’re not going to guess the way this one ends. Pick it up and read it for yourself. Like me, you won’t want to wait to buy the sequel, “Monochrome.” I am not affiliated or endorsed by this author in any way and have nothing to gain from this review. I’m just an avid reader who stumbled across this author’s page via local reading/writing connections. Happy reading!

A good story that will pull you out of your world like fantasy should

Fantasy to me is about that moment you walk into someplace you may have once known, and discover something you never knew existed, and your mind begins to race with all the possibilities, and eventually impossibilities of the world just to try to rediscover that world beyond ours that is lost and sad and wonderful. In Gray begins with that classic kind of jarring experience, and leaves the reader with the certainty that more discovery is coming. An easy, but good story that will pull you in like fantasy should, but with characters that are normal and real. The story reminds me of Shadowhunters but the writing reminds me of James Patterson. My only negative was that maybe the reading level was so simple that it would be appealing to audiences a little too young, but that was only at first. I’ve watched more adult things with my two-year-old daughter on Netflix kids. And that’s saying something about Netflix Kids. Waiting for the next book.
