#IARTG THE DRAGON DREAMER by J.S. Burke, #YA #Sci #Fantasy
Dragon Lightning is a stand-alone book and the second in The Dragon Dreamer series. It’s a fast-paced adventure with flying dragons, an undersea world, and unlikely friendships. This science fantasy is layered for readers age 9 to adult.
Drakor seems like a normal young ice dragon with a talent for making lightning swords. But he alone feels the changing heart of his island Volcano. It destroyed his beloved sire. Now he foresees their doom, but none will listen. As he seeks proof, the Volcano shakes him off into the frozen sea . . .
Arak was mocked as a worthless dreamer until he and Scree, a fearless undersea misfit, saved the dragons. Now dragons and octopi sail north in search of mythical ice dragons. They find Drakor and terrifying reality. When Scree enters the abyss to check his volcano, she discovers everyone is in peril. Can this crew of unlikely friends save three realms?

5-star review

Dragon lighting: Dragon dreamers Book 2
By Chris Jones
Dragon Lighting is the second book in the Dragon Dreamers by J.S. Burke. I love the world Jenny has created on these pages, very detailed and well described without being too much you lose the simple joy of reading her wonderful story. The words become pictures come to life, it’s a type of magic the writer weaves.
Book 2 starts out with action, danger and our introduction to Drakor, an Ice Dragon. Arak and his crew are on board their Skiff navigating the ice towers and in search of the legendary Ice Dragons. This first meeting of Arak, his crew and Drakor do not go easily, to say the least.
This crew is experienced now, and fast thinking saves them all and the injured Ice Dragon. They have the best healers on board the skiff, one dragon and one Octopus one. The story begins with getting to know Drakor and his learning new ways, new ideas and a strong friendship is forged.
Arak is a strong, adventurous, golden dragon who looks out for his clan and his friends. He loves traveling the seas, discovering new lands and weaving these threads together for a better life.
The Ice Dragons are strong and always ready for hard work and battle, They have one person in charge of their clan who rules over all, a Dictatorship.
The Golden Dragons choose a leader and then share in decision making, a Democracy.
Arak and his crew, as well as Drakor, learn a lot from each other. New skills are honed, energy grows from within, and they grow as individuals.
Dorali is one of my favorite dragons, she is a healer with the strength of a warrior. Her inner strength is amazing, and even through her scars, she knows she deserves real love, a true mate who will accept and love her beyond her scars.
Scree is an Octopus but so much more, handing out wisdom and good advice like a good momma would. She is very honorable, adventurous and fierce in the protection of her pod and her friends. Orm is a gentle Octopus and Screes mate, who loves her beyond words. He is always her champion and accompanies her on her adventures.
The new sea life, the discoveries they make, the sharing of knowledge to help each other and teaching Drakor ways to which could help him help his clan is so refreshing and encouraging. I just love this story, this book and it so beautifully translates to our world and how we should be to one another. It is a wonderful book for any age group, and I highly recommend it and the first one, Dragon Dreamer.
