Another Exciting Page Turner
Oh, how I enjoyed reading, The Long Road Home. It was one way for me to sit and relax reading a story full of suspense, and everyday drama that many have endured in ‘real life.’ Oh, the secrets, deceits, and suspense kept me ‘on my feet’ – Yes, another page-turner.
I also loved how there were no unnecessary interruptions between scenes. It takes a highly skilled writer who can craft a story such as this one with so many categories (suspense, drama, action, mystery and deception) all rolled into one, and the reader never misses a beat. Yes, I believe the story flowed well without scene divisions, and I was very happy to plunge right through reading along as I was able to keep up with the story line, characters, and their motives within this well-written story.
I’ll have to share with you, however, that I held my breath toward the end hoping for the story to end my way, and without spoiling it for you, it certainly did!
She's rich so that's easy enough. The problem is that her inheritance comes ...
After her parents killed in a car wreck, Kate then finds out that the man she is going to marry is cheating on her. She decides to make a new start and goes to live at her grandmother's Florida plantation home which needs a lot of work. She's rich so that's easy enough. The problem is that her inheritance comes with a secret that puts her at great risk. When we meet AJ, his reasons for helping Kate are shrouded in mystery. Murder, stalking, and international intrigue give the story plenty of twists and turns. A dash of romance spices things up for us. Great story, characters and settings. A very good read.
Mystery and intrigue
Opportunists lurk all around Kate McClellan like vultures over ripe carrion. When everyone wants something, who can you trust?
This was a fast read and a page turner. Although fiction, I think it highlights the darker side of ambition in a very real way.
