“This book delves into PTSD (which both Joel and Slade suffer from) and the difficulties living with it.” – Standing on His Own (New Beginnings Book 2) by Trish Edmisten

When his best friend decided to join the Army after high school graduation, there was no question Joel would join too. Best friends since kindergarten, the two of them did everything together, and this was no different. A routine mission changed their lives forever. Slade ended up paralyzed while Joel lost his leg. Joel never expected to live with one leg, but he wasn’t going to let it break him. Like he did with everything else, he adapted, and he accepted that he was never going to find love. Women might want to sleep with a war hero, but they sure as hell don’t want to live with and take care of one. That theory proves true until Courtney comes along. Beautiful, independent Courtney with her wicked sense of humor is the perfect woman for Joel. All he has to do is trust her enough to accept that he doesn’t have to stand on his own anymore.

His perfect match

In this second book of the New Beginnings, all the characters from the first book are back and we get to see more of Joel and his best friend Slade. Both of them have suffered both physically and emotionally after their time in the army and they are trying their best to cope. This story centers around Joel and the girl he meets, Courtney. Their first couple of encounters don’t go well, but still, there is something between them and Joel is determined to pursue a relationship with Courtney. This book delves into PTSD (which both Joel and Slade suffer from) and the difficulties living with it.

A really interesting series of novellas!
Summer Angel – Who are Charlie and Bethany? Who is John? What is happening in their lives? Who is Clarisse? What journey does she take one of those three on and why? Things finally start to make sense as I realize what has happened. It makes my heart sad. Who is Gous? Who is Donna? You need to read to see what is going on.

Dark Angel – What we find out about Donna, who she is, what her family is like, and what has happened to her that makes her like Charlie is interesting. We find out more about Gous and the others as well. We see what is going to happen, to some degree, at least we’re told what needs to happen in order to make things right.

Forgotten Angel – After what happens with Clarisse, and promises that are made, how does it affect Charlie? What happens that puts Charlie and Bethany into a tailspin and on a road trip? Where are they leaving and where do they go to? What happens on the way there? What about once they get there? All I can say is I like Keeper and the enigma that he is. I cannot wait to read The Karma Set of this series of 9 novellas. Happy reading!

Karma’s Minion – Wow, all I can say about the start of this fourth story of the series is WOW. You always hear about not messing with Karma and we see how it comes back against Charlie in this one. What did he do that was so wrong to make Karma angry? What happens when Charlie goes to a cafe for a coffee and something to eat while his mother gets to sleep in? Who is Ms. Kapoor? What does she have to do with all of this and why? I like the Yin and Yang aspect of this story.

Karma’s Revenge – Wow, having just gotten a few chapters into this, and seeing Charlie and Clarisse meet up again and Dante’s part in their reunion was very interesting indeed. When Clarisse finds out what has been happening for and to Charlie and the decisions he has had to make caused things to get very interesting indeed. What happens when Gous shows up again? Things do get mighty interesting.

Karma’s Legacy – WOW! I did not expect what I saw in this third portion of this trio of books dealing with Karma. There is so much more going on than I anticipated or could have even dreamed about. You need to read this and see what happens, because I’m just like, “WOAH!”

Keeper of Truth – Holy smokes, this series of Summer Spirit Novellas keeps getting more and more intense! As I start to learn more about Charlie’s path maybe, I am more and more stunned and floored. We find out some things in this book that are good, and some that are scary. I am happy for Clarisse and Charlie and sad for Tabitha, Charlie’s best friend from his human life. If you have not read the first six books of this series of novellas you need to go read them before starting in on the Keeper Set.

Keeper of LIes – This book really had me questioning even my own sanity at some points. I felt like I was truly there and was losing my mind at the half-truths and deceptions that I am sure are going on but I cannot be positive of. I cannot wait to start the last book in this series to see how it ends!

Keeper of Oblivion – Wow, I did not expect that ending to the series. I love that there are things that keep it possible for something along the lines in the future to come. I love watching Charlie become the man he is meant to be. I love watching what he does and how he stands up for everyone that is different from them. You need to see how this turns out!

At thirty, Lauren Ryals was a successful single woman with a biological clock that ticked like a time bomb. Truthfully, the ticking started a few years before, but the closer she got to her thirtieth birthday, the harder it was to ignore, so Lauren decided to try adoption.
Enter her old high school friend, Tevin Frazier, expressing his willingness to help her with that problem the old-fashioned way.
Lauren dreamed of a life with her high school beau, Gator, but he didn’t feel the same; he went his way soon after he graduated. Accepting this is the only way she will become a mother, Tevin and Lauren enter an agreement and have children.
At a friend’s wedding festivities, Lauren and Gator cross paths again, and he reveals he wanted more than her body, but due to the rampant rumors about her, he didn’t feel she wanted more with him. Now they are both available, Gator offers Lauren the life he wanted with her when they were teens.
Lauren accepts, not knowing that Tevin is interested in being more than just her children’s father.

touching story

I WISH I WASN’T! RYANNE ANTHONY
This is Lauren’s story. In high school, she was known as the “go-to” girl for pleasing the boys. She hated that reputation. The only boy she wanted was Gator who ignored her unless she was under him. Later in life, she became a successful businesswoman with a bright future. What she wanted most was a baby.
Enter Tevin, another high school friend. He agrees to give her what she wants the old-fashioned way.
This story is a roller coaster ride of emotions involving a woman who just wants love and to belong. Ms. Anthony has written a poignant story and I loved every page of it! I give I WISH I WASN’T 5 stars for a wonderful story that will touch readers!

A DIME IS A SIGN BY

SHERRILL S. CANNON

DIME IS A SIGN SSC

A Dime is a Sign Through Time

If you find a dime,
You will know that I’m
Sending thoughts of love
Through the veil of time.

Ten cents with a silver shine,
A sense sent you to help remind
That someone who left you behind
Is always living in your mind.

Sending love and vibes,
Felt as psychic sighs …
The ones that you miss,
Send you a kiss …

Sherrill S. Cannon’s second book of poetry contains messages written through the years in poetic form that put feelings into words. As a teacher, many of her poems helped counsel troubled teens and friends.

There are three sections in the book: Heads, Spinning, and Tails … (Love & Loss: Coin Toss?). The variety of lyrical poetry forms include free verse, blank verse, haiku, and sonnets, while some are just playing with words!

Hopefully, this is also a book of healing.

“The descriptive writing draws you in and keeps you there” – Blood Phase (Book 2 of the G.O.D.’s Series) by Kirsten Campbell

#dystopian #bestseller #bookbooster

WARNING  FOR 18+ ONLY

The G.O.D. series must be read in order

November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles, and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate bloodlust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets. Not disappointed! Griffin, having earned the trust of Fortress authorities, is set to be released from The Brig, much to the delight of Tassta, his sweetheart. Although Griffin still has a lot to learn about balancing his newfound abilities against his inherent humanity, overall he does well and has enough control over his abilities to prevent caving into his inner desires. As his and Tassta’s romance heats up, Griffin gets the horrifying news soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? Will Tassta and Griffin’s love survive such turmoil? Can a G.O.D. forgive himself when death and destruction follow his every move? Read Blood Phase, the gripping second book in the G.O.D.s Series!

Awesome

An awesome follow-up to Blood Master: Book 1 of The G.O.D.s SeriesBlood Phase follows on seamlessly from book one, and we rejoin Griffin, Tassta, Lerin and all, in the continuing story. Once again the characters are well-fleshed out and have their own personalities, and are like friends I’ve known for years. I feel their love, fear, confusion, frustration, and sorrow, and my heart goes out to them. The descriptive writing draws you in and keeps you there through all the twists, turns, and actions, and doesn’t let go until you turn the last page. I am eager to read the next book and discover what happens next.
